Wood Violins

    Has anyone tried the wood electric violins?
    Are they killer?

    Allegedly very good instruments (assuming you mean these: Wood Violins - Electric Violin Crafters ) but I have yet to meet anyone who's played one so thats purely anecdotal.

    I like the idea however - I'd get one if I had the cash :)

    Seeing as they are made of Poplar makes me cringe/curious
    some of the videos I viewed on Youtube they sounded pretty thin

    I didn't read that I must admit - perhaps they're of the opinion that as they're designed to be amplified that its not so important? I can see why poplar might be used on some models but I would have thought that more traditional tonewoods would be present at least as an option.
