I have just discovered a guitar preamp housed in an actual 357 Magnum shell that delivers up to 24db of gain without any tonal change. All I know is that they are made by Wolf Rose (any relation to Floyd??) handmade in Bozeman, Montana and BC Rich Customshop stick 'em in their axes. Other than that I ain't havin much luck on the net gettin any more info or availability - does anyone out there know anything else about them? Btw the full make and model is : Wolf Rose 'Bullet' Preamp

i had one of them on my US made B.C. Rich Warlock 7.

found it pretty useless. sure, it added gain, and ALOT of noise along with it. an overdrive or clean boost pedal will do a much better job for you than the Wolf Rose.

Hi Edroz,

Thanks for the information - handy to know.

Would you happen to know or can recommend and clean boost pedals please?

This is a completely new avenue to me having solely relied upon my amps channels for gain/lead gain.

Cheers,

Jamie

any pedal that's an overdrive or tube screamer. the Ibanez TS7 or Boss SD-1 are solid, good sounding pedals that are an inexpensive place to start.

when you're boosting an amp, the idea is to keep the gain low and the level high on the pedal.
