If 7 strings were used way back then, it'd be a different world today. Prolly even crazier!

If 7's were used by Sabbath it would've been doom straight from the get-go instead of having Sleep, Electric Wizard, Orange Goblin and all those guys come along

    :agreed:

Then they would be able to play their whole catalog on 1 guitar (D-standard, Drop-C, and D-standard with a low A)

I voted Pantera...I would have loved to hear Dime tear shit up on a 7.

And this sorta goes along with the conversation...I wish that Chimaira had kept using 7-strings, as they could have done some cool shit there.

Pantera on the basis that Dime's riffs are the most suitable to a seven. Though this argument could be made for Sabbath, or even Zeppellin in a different context.

I think most of Maiden and Megadeth's music is perfectly suited to the range they play in.

Though Hallowed Be Thy Name would be bad ass played in the same key on a seven.

I have to say Pantera, because in my honest opinion thrash works best out of that lower register (say, riffs based around the A string as opposed to E, let alone B). Pantera could've made it work though for more groove oriented stuff :metal:

i think pantera would have impacted SO many more people than the rest (other than metallica) simply because dime was (and is) a god. imagine 5 min alone or walk or cowboys or floods in 7 string form. pure jizz.

I imagine Cynic would use it as a very rhythmic tool like Steve Vai has done and just transpose things or do the odd note here and there but nothing super brutal on them
