What effect is used?

    I am trying to find out, which effect is used around the 1:35 mark.

    It’s obviously hearable when it hits, but i have no clue what it is. Sounds absolutely horrible, and i love it. Other examples of the effect are aswell welcome!

    Some sort of bitcrusher? That's my guess.

    Sounds like an arpeggiator and a dive bomb, or a whammy pedal.

    Sounds like either a step/flange effect or a ring modulator.

    There's a similar effect on the end of the solo on this song (3:11):

    Sounds like a step filter alongside a divebomb/whammy... possibly?

    Sounds like one of those step filters, or sample and hold modulators with pitch.
