Saw Haken and Arch Echo last night in Portland. Fun show in a nice and small venue. I had already seen Arch Echo live last year when they opened for Dream Theater in Oakland.

During the week, I got drunk and booked a DT ticket for San Jose along with plane tickets.

Blindfolded and Led to the Woods in Melbourne. They're incredible, strongly recommend sitting down for a few deep dives of their new album Rejecting Obliteration.

Just saw:

Well Wisher
Pinkshift
Zulu
GEL
Jimmy Eat World
Bleachers
Paramore

Day 1 of Adjacent Festival down, it's ...very sandy seeing a show on the beach of Atlantic City. I also put on sunscreen 3 times in 4 hrs and still got plenty burnt. Tomorrow I'm applying it every 45 mins or so, and it better be enough.

Tomorrow's lineup is: Knocked Loose, LS Dunes, Motion City Soundtrack, Coheed, Turnstile and I'm done!

Show was awesome, just as I figured. I filmed one song, here's what they sounded like:

Last show was 2 months ago. Saw Thy Art is Murder doing their Decade of Hate tour. They killed. Kublai Khan TX, I AM, and Justice for the Damned were with them. Hell of a show. Shit venue. Taking my daughter to see Ghost and Amon Amarth in September.

Got in late and skipped Knocked Loose, they were also at the far stage which would've meant hustling thru 1/4 mile in sand to see Dunes after them. Got in to see Dunes first, then went to the main stage as The Starting Line was nearing completion; think they had three songs to go by the time I got there.

Then I moved up and watched Japanese Breakfast since they were before Coheed, then Coheed went on at 6:45, Turnstile at 8, and Blink at 9:30 to close it out. That Blink set felt like forever since I know maybe 4 songs from them, and that's being generous, none of which I've listened to since after I was 12.

Joined the Queens of The Stone Age presale list today, hoping I can get a couple of tickets. Never saw them before.

Seeing Modest Mouse, Pixies, and The Smashing Pumpkins (6th time?) this summer.

Need to see a few metal shows with my former bassist before he moves to Virginia.

Currently at a Sanguisugabogg show with Jarhead Fertilizer, Throne, and Feticide. First two bands were good. Jarhead Fertilizer is up next.

I feel insane having done this, but I got full on EVO Experience tickets for Vai on his newly announced tour dates in North America this August. Guess I'm making up for having missed him on the last tour date near me in November last year. It is also like a 20 minute walk away from where I live and on my birthday, so I said fuck it, I am treating myself. What a better way to spend my birthday than getting an in person Vai gear tour and sound check.

Only downside is my girlfriend isn't coming, because I could not fork out that kinda money for two people, and if she bought her ticket separately she wouldn't be sitting next to me.

Tuhdimmat Tahdit metal festival two weeks from now. Going with a friend, but his grandpa's funeral is on the first day of the festival so he'll be joining me in the evening - gonna be interesting to see what it's like to be at a festival by myself. Last time I went alone was something like 15 years ago.

In addition to having booked a ticket for Dream Theater, I also have tickets this year for Snarky Puppy (this month in Eugene, OR), Pat Metheny, Polyphia, and Plini.

Debating whether to see BTBAM or not. Seeing BTBAM means a general admission ticket and either not getting a front row spot to stand in or sitting through two other bands. With that said, I became a fan of a two opening acts through a show in which I booked a ticket for the main event (Arch Echo opening for DT last year and Lutharo opening for Alestorm this year).

BTBAM is a band that I think are OK when it comes to their studio music, but I enjoyed their live show a lot when they opened for Trivium last year.

Snagged some tickets to see Tomb Mold play Manor of Infinite Forms next Saturday. Been craving some more good death metal shows since going to see Suffocation/Death to All.

Had a chance to see Käärijä live today for free, just 3 miles from my home but I was driving home from the lake house so I missed it. Well, it's not the end of the world since I'm seeing him on a club gig next Friday.

I will be seeing Carcass on Tuesday. Have seen them a few times before, but only at open-air festivals.

I was also hoping to see Suffocation at the same venue later this month, but they've just cancelled their European tour. That's pretty gutting, because almost no established metal bands come to my area.

Caught Goatwhore’s last show of this tour, small venue with stage that was about as high as a bar’s footrest. I love small venues with really energetic bands and passionate audiences, the intimacy is great for the band and crowd feed off one another. First opener, Septik, was a local thrash band. Sacrocurse was next from Mexico I think and was more grind. Both were solid starts, I especially enjoyed Septik’s set.

Goatwhore was awesome as usual. Ben really knows how to work the crowd, good banter and getting physical with fist bumps and high fives. He also gave a boost to the stage divers since it’s hard to jump on top of everyone from starting up at their shins. The whole band seemed like they a great time playing that night.

Unfortunately Sammy wouldn’t part with his SD-2, but he did give me his pick at the end of the set. Better luck next time!
