OK so I'm looking to purchase another 7 string guitar and I have been thinking about ordering one from Carvin (720.00 US + free shipping). Now I've seen these Washburn Sonic speed demons 7 string out of their USA custom shop for less than the Carvins. These Sonics are new but discontinued, with Original Floyds and either Duncan's or Dimarzio's with the Buzz Feiten.... tuning and 18/1 locking tuners (I forget the brand), plus the locking nut...

Any thoughts on the Washburns, or the Carvin...thanks!

I havent played a carvin in years tho i have played several Washburns.

Washburns are pretty nice guitars they hold up well, have decent fit and finish and play nicely. Plus they sound prety decent for having (for the most part) no name pups. the factory setup on them is ok but they need a bit of tweaking (like most guitars do)

at least with washburns you can go to a shop and try some out...since Carvin is (IIRC) all mail order you dont really have that option with them...

sure you might not get to play the exact one you want to order but you'll get a general idea of what they are like...

I'll second that. Even the cheap washburns are pretty good.
