There are actually more than 2 USA built guitars from Washburn. I wish they had more options but as of right now they offer the Michael Sweet (Stryper) model, various Nuno N4 guitars (Ash body, 4N, N4 Authentic, N4 Vintage, N4 Paduak etc.) and the 2 Nele Guitars (Standard and Deluxe). Hopefully this will mean more USA models in the future.

Regarding the Paduak model I had an email from guitarguitar here in the UK today regarding ordering one and the distributor has confirmed to them that the Paduak models even tho they are on the washburn site are no longer available, even as a custom order

Their UK distribution might be slightly different that what they sell over here in the US. They are still actively making that Paduak N4 guitars here.

I would really like to know the builder in these. I played a used N4 at GC that felt as quality as any other guitar I’ve ever played. I would’ve bought it that day had it not been for the N4 decal on the front. GC said it was a 2016 so I’m assuming that’s well after all of the CS stuff was farmed out.

Washburn ceased US operations late 2015. So it's not impossible that what you played was a late 2015 build, received in 2016. The serial number would have been able to tell.

I wish I would've done some more digging to see if it was a Washburn CS or another builder because it really was a phenomenal instrument. I just can't get over really signature-y guitars so the "N4" was a deal-breaker on that particular guitar but I would like to have known if I could've had something similar built by Washburn or their ghostbuilder(s?).

As far as I know the padauk and 'natural' (currently swamp ash) models don't have the sticker on them - only the Authentic, Vintage and 4N models.

From 2009 onwards they resemble the Davies specs, along with the N4 MIJ models.

Andertons have posted up on their site the Standard and Deluxe to pre order prices. £2,599 & £2,999 respectively, thats on a par with the current UK prices for the Vintage and the Authentic/4N. These Nele's have really grown on me but that is too much £££ for my current wallet, I'll wait on a 2nd hand one or spend the money on importing a Padauk N4.

Yeah, no way I would buy one of them new.

I picked up a used custom shop N5 via a yahoo japan auction signed by Nuno for a very good price.

2nd hand prices for N4's in the UK and EU are unbelievable, so many Used listings are asking MORE than the price of a brand new. Every so often the odd one comes up at a decent price (luckily I got one couple of weeks ago by chance) but when its cheaper to import from the US and pay the additional 23.5% import and VAT instead of buying one from the UK/EU then you know some people want unicorn money for their guitar

On the other hand, if they're in no hurry, why wouldn't they ? I know of a dude whose entire collection is always up on ebay for stupîd prices, just in case. (listing is free in France)

The only thing special about the Nuno guitars is the SEC. otherwise, it’s just a decent parts caster.

Check out the japan auctions, I use zenmarket to browse listings but dejapan to bid and freight forward (process is a bit tedious but they have the lowest fees).

Ishibashi is one of the best japanese stores for used guitars as well, with reasonable prices. With the N4s it just depends if you want the original Davies specs which means year models 2009 onwards.

I love the maple board one!
That 6 way switch would be tricky if you’re flipping it quickly.

Loving these more and more, the maple standards neck is gorgeous.

An official Washburn video with Nuno demoing would be really cool
