So, I was reading through HBIH, and I came across an article about VOLA.

I thought to myself, "Well, I fvcking dig the hell out of Meshuggah and Karnivool, Opeth is in my top 3 favorite bands of all time, and I have never heard of Caligula's Horse. I think I'll check these guys out."

All I can say is wow. I honestly was expecting something much less artsy, but I am not disappointed at all. Give them a listen. They may or may not be your cup of tea, but to me, they are breath of fresh air within a scene that's already saturated with serial imitators and stagnant formulas.

Yes, great album. I really enjoy this one.
IMO it is a mixture of modern progressive metal / djent and synthpop. This combination works really well.

I plan on buying it as soon as I get home.

It's just refreshing to hear a band in this style that isn't just rehashing the same thing. I also appreciate the singer's voice. It's not the typical ultra-high pitched wailing that's been in fashion for the past decade in metalcore and modern prog metal.

    xfilth: Yay, more Danes :wavey:

SeditiousDissent: I just noticed you mentioned Caligula's Horse. "The Thief, The Tide and River's End" is an amazing album :yesway: I think you'll really dig it.

Wow, you are absolutely right in your thinking. I most definitely dig them! + Rep

I consider any day in which I discover 2 new kickass bands to be a rousing success.

They released a video for their song Emily a couple of days ago. It's definitely the softest song on the record, but it's a very cool track, nonetheless.

Man I'm glad to have stumbled across this band. Inmazes is brilliant. Going to be listening to this record quite often this year. Would love to hear details on their guitars and tunings. I know they are using POD HD products based on a video release by line 6 just about a week ago.

EDIT: Stray the Skies is my favorite track.. If anyone hasn't heard it yet.. I would go with this track for a first listen. damn its good..

I hope I dont rustle any jimmies saying this, but these guys are a nice substitute for Sybreed. Close enough to be familiar, but different enough to be fresh.

No jimmies rustled. They aren't as industrial or heavy as Sybreed, IMO.

I messaged Asger on facebook and asked him what tuning he used on Inmazes for his 7 and he said from low to high F#-B-E-A-D-F#-D. I also asked what amp models he used on the POD HD and he said he couldn't remember his patches because someone stole his POD Pro after the tracking of the album. He basically said he blended two different high-gain amp models and post eq'd them after the amp blocks.

I have to bump this again because I've been listening to VOLA non-stop for the past couple of days. This is truly one of the most amazing bands I've ever heard, period. Everything about this makes me feel that feeling you get from music that you just know will be the music you will remember at the soundtrack of a period in your life.

If I'm coming across as a fanboy, it's because I am now. VOLA is the shiznit
