Zelda II always had some of my favourite video game music
Fantasy and Symphonic:
Morrowind and Oblivion soundtracks are absolutely fantastic. My favorites are Nerevar Rising (Morrowind Title Song) & exploration tracks from Oblivion like King & Country / Minstrel's Lament / Auriel's Ascension:
Halo theme is great (very famous, so no need to post)
Deep Stone Lullaby from Destiny 2 is rather fresh, but already a classic:
Divinity series has some nice tunes:
Whispers of Oxenfurt from The Witcher 3:
Supergiant games have some smashing vibes, here's a couple from Bastion:
Zeno Clash 2:
Some title tracks:
FTL: Faster Than Light:
Far Cry 3:
Elder Scrolls: Skyrim - Far Horizons
This is my favourite song above all others. Beautiful music.
24 years later, still my fave.
How could I forget to post this? Fun riffs.
Hah I've been listening to some old game soundtracks lately at work. A couple that come to mind:
Really both of these games have such good OSTs in their entirety.
For anyone who wants to relax a little, this is an great Soundtrack from an awesome composer.
Descent (like most games of that era) had a fantastic soundtrack. I think the technical limitations of sound cards at the time necessitated good melodies and encouraged creativity for making background music. Whereas the trend now is more towards "soundscapes" and endless layering
Of course, Dawn of War II deserves recognition too; anything in 7/8 is bound to be good, to be fair...
Company of Heroes 1 and 2 also has an epic Soundtrack
Byzantine’s bassist has a YouTube channel, he does all kinds of game themes. Look up Mega Beardo
This was definitely a huge chunk of my childhood:
Also, this was my first time hearing Steve Vai, way before I knew who Steve Vai was:
Aaaaand this is no small part of why I love techno music so much:
This was one of my favorites as a kid. Short and sweet, creepy futuristic atmosphere, very sick soundtrack.
A great album. Honestly, I remember coming across this on Ares/Limewire in 2003 when searching for ‘Cradle of Filth.’ Glad I learned the actual composer. Must listen for any Castlevania fan!
