It seems like the low E, A, and D strings on my DC 800 are a bit out of tune..Even when I play them by themselves. The intonation seems fine on those strings so i'm wondering if that's something that's an easy fix?

    What could be causing this?

Do you mean the pitch wobbles? The gauge is highly likely too small.

I would suggest lowering one of your pickups. It might be too high and causing the "string out of tune even when played alone" thing

It just sounds flat or sharp depending on the correction I make. I can't get it exact. The strings are the stock that come on the DC800. I'm changing them this week though so we'll see if that sorts it out I guess.

My initial "tuning" issues when I got my 8 was a combination of undersized strings, technique, and just plain adapting.

It was also my first axe with mondo frets, and along with the light strings I was actually pushing the strings down too hard and randomly "bending" notes until I was used to it and upped the string guage.

Give it some time with the right strings and you'll love erg's.

When in tune all fretted notes will be a tad sharp. I just made a new.brass nut for mine and plan on bringing it forward and compensating the slots to flatten them. Fret the low E at 24 and check its sustain. If it cuts out early, lower the pickup.
