So it covers the heavy stuff. What about cleans?
The head alone is like 4-500
Yes, and the cab is like $200-300 new.
And the cleans are good.
The 12AX7 tube used as part of phase inverter and power directly from 6505. The only part of the figures. / Edit - just realized from your post, do you think Vypyr 60-year-old solid-state power section....
the man is correct.
You can score Bugera stuff on the cheap with pro tone.
Go and look up 6262 cleans on youtube. I think you'd be pleasantly surprised.
It seems the 6262 would be the most obvious choice. Trying to see if I can find a cab in the price range mentioned...
someone can correct me if i'm way off here...
but IIRC, the Jet City's are based on soldano's(with help from Mike Soldano himself) not sure which model, but if it's anything like the SLO then it should be *similar* to the 6505/5150/6260/6262 or what have you. haven't had the chance to mess around with the Jet City's enough to really speak on it though...
Carvin tube combo of some kind. I'm really digging my new V3M (head) but you could find an older model for well within your budget. Carvin amps don't hold their resale value like a lot of brands, so you might be able to find an awesome deal on a used one.
true, and they are similar in price range to a bugera.
though they do lack some of the features.
Either would be a good choice.
@mithologian: try B&H photo and video (google them) they usually have good prices on bugera stuff
Id say Peavey Ultra Plus, got mine for 400$. Its based off the rockmaster preamp, not quite a XXX or JSX and not quite a 5150 but I dig it.
Its really a underrated amp with more then enough brutal to go around, not as much gain as a 5150/6505 mind you but I honestly I like this amps sound better. Plus its got a clean channel you can actually use!
Yet another one im considering. Searching some clips of it atm.
I must say im really digging the bugera so far though. Only thing bothering me about it is people saying they have heard bad stories about them.
Alright, have rounded my search to the 6262 and the ultra plus. But I must say, the ultra plus seems to have a better tag for me
Used combos under $650 for sale in Vancouver in the last couple months:
Carvin Legacy 2x12 $650
JSX 2x12 $600
5150 block logo 2x12 $500
Bugera 333XL $600
Go used, let someone else take the depreciation hit. The only thing on here that doesn't make a whit of sense is that Bugera going for $80 less than retail. The other 3 were smoking deals. I may be in a league of my own over here, but I love that Legacy combo. Super versatile, great sound, cheap as borscht coz no one wants 'em.
My friend has a legacy but I have yet to hear it. But,
Peavey Ultra Plus head and 4x12 cab $400
Kinda leaning towards that
it was 400$ for the head, 230$ for a 5150 cab but I have seen those sell cheaper since then
Whats the difference between an Ultra and an Ultra Plus?
I was offered a trade for a Peavey Ultra 120 (with footswitch and "all new tubes as of last month") and a Randall Stereo 4x12 cab with Celestion G12M-70's.
Im pretty sure the only difference is that the plus has a half power switch, the light up logo and some more chrome. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong
I'm also just worried because the Randall cab has Celestions that are "the worst speakers Celestion has ever made" according to people on various other forums. I also found someone with a Peavey XXL and a Marshall JCM800 Lead cab thats supposed to be pretty solid and have GT75s in it.
