The sad thing is....this doesn't sound any more ridiculous than a lot of other tone chasing posts I read in here.

It seems like the only "valuable" opinion you will accept is one that agrees with yours...
If you feel it makes a difference, then remove it. What's the big deal?

He doesn’t state acoustic or electric. We can rule out Fender for all intents. The Op is going to have a custom guitar made ? I thought this was a sendup - joke - until I read the replies. There have been some very funny replies. I have two Martins D 42 - and Custom maple cutaway . Martin does not use a truss rod cover, in fact they never had truss rods until fairly recently in the scheme if things historically .
Gibson’s have truss rod covers on acoustic ,and electrics . One would think Gibson knew something about crafting hollow - solid bodies . Electrics, and acoustics . Did they miss something ? I doubt it.
This is hands down the most absurd thing I’ve ever read.
I haven’t watched the video. I can’t imagine what it is.
    A sketch from SNL ?

Can’t wait for the 20 page thread on nickel-plated vs carbon fiber truss rod covers.

... of course we should... didn't you have a laugh at it? Didn't you get an opportunity to make and read fresh jokes about this? Some were mean, some were inspired...

I think it's fantastic how once in a while we can be surprised with such inspired threads... although I very much doubt we'll see OP again around here...

This attitude, applied more broadly towards life, would probably make me a better person.

How about " I tried taking my truss rod cover off. I've never recorded before. Is the mix too thin? Maybe I should never play again". See how many here get THIS one

I've never made truss rod covers before, but I'm starting my own company making them out of carbon fiber. I'm taking deposits now for boutique truss rod covers that you'll never get *cough* I mean, that look and sounds really fantastic. Paypal me now with your deposits so I can purchase a Porsche the materials I need to get started!

"okay I put the truss rod cover on, and changed a few other stuff I'm not going to mention, is this mix radio ready or shall I commit seppuku?"

This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Everybody knows you take the cavity covers off the BACK of the guitar. That's where all the tone lives. Duh.

Wouldn't taking the covers off let all the tone out?

No no no youre crazy, that's just nonsense. Now leaving pickguard screws out? Tone suck central, buddy. It escapes through the paint that is broken there at the hole...duh.

... and that's why covered pickups have more tone under the hood than uncovered ones... and why pickup rings are important...

people, people, all this talk of covers and pickguards and what not is not getting us very far. do not forget all the hardware. for example volume and tone knobs should always be made of metal, not plastic. metal is heavier and as we all know more mass = more sustain. with that in mind you might think locking tuners are the way to go since they are a bit heavier than none locking tuners. FOOL! with none locking tuners more of the string will wind around the shaft, providing better contact which enhances energy transferance which in turn enriches the harmonics and again benifits sustain. and don´t let me get started on the color of the bridge.
