Once it comes out, I'll definitely look into it. Putting some LePou amps, the Otto, etc... would be amazing if they sound relatively the same.

Just to try it out I captured the Line 6 Badonk amp and it pretty much nailed it completely! I'm sure other plugins won't be a problem either.

I was thinking, that since a vst is digital, it only makes sense that a capture of it would be the best possible scenario for something like the ToneX. I would think the routing would be the hardest part to figure out. If you don't mind me asklng, how did you manage to capture it ? I might grab the demo to see if I can pull it off. If so, geting that pedal would be a no-brainer.

I don't think the digital aspect makes a whole lot of sense, but in this case they probably have very similar underlying models.

I captured it from my Helix rack which was very easy to set up with the USB ins and outs but I'm sure there's also a way to capture plugins etc

From my understanding you can use JACK to route audio correctly to capture plugins. It can be done, but its very confusing and looks to be a bit of a PITA

Though I just tried the ToneX software. Didn't find a lot of good stuff. The clean stuff seemed accurate, but that's very easy to model. The Orange OR120 model was really good and captured a lot of what I like about that amp. The Engl also seemed pretty accurate. But the JCMs and 5150s were really meh. When I lowered the buffer to 64/128, I got pops. When I had it around 256, there was enough latency to be a bit annoying on fast stuff.

When it comes to the profiling/capturing, definitely! The QC still offers decent capturing although not as accurate as Tonex alongside stock amp models and effects etc.
So for those that don't have amps to profile, how would this rate as a stand alone amp modeler (vs say, a Pod GO) ? I don't need all the effects that current boards have, so are there enough decent patches available in the ToneX library that you can load into it that would make it worth it or are the amp sims in something like a Helix Stomp still quite a bit better to work with ?

$400? Yeesh. RIP Quad Cortex / Kemper.
Yea, I have a feeling Neural will come out with a slimmed down product that does only captures, maybe talks to a plugin or app. I dont know. They will definitely be feeling the burn though. Kemper......yea thats going to really burn. I think anyone with a right mind would just buy Tonex. Kemper is basically a paper weight at this point
