Is that second guitar from the right in the family shot one of the 80's Tom Andersons with the Ultrasonic Reference Series pickups? If so, how do they sound (I've always wanted to try those pickups, but have never found them anywhere)?

Back on topic, that blue TA is very tempting, but I'm trying not to spend money ATM.

They were indeed and the originals too. I've since sold that bowling ball. They are very flat eq sounding which is what they are intended for. They were the next big thing in the late '80s for a while when everyone was using rack systems.

    In Tom Anderson's own words

ultrasonics were the brain child of some folks who were selling our guitars at the time. they were also the ones seriously into the rack scene of the day. we did not have a humcancelling single coil at the time and hum was even a greater enemy then than it is now. we did use them for several years until we did the first SK-1 stack.

Beautiful guitar. I have a hollow drop top in a similar finish. Anderson has no equal.

Thanks for that info Metlupass2. I would like to have tried those pickups at some point, but it sounds like I didn't miss out on much as I tend to prefer a scooped Strat tone from a single coil in the neck or middle, and a Tele tone from a single coil in the bridge.

Anyway, TTT so someone else can buy this before I get too tempted.
