Local seller has it up for $200, it looks sort of hideous. But it's $200 and seems to have decent features. like EMGs and a Kahler tremolo. Is this a fair price, or is it too cheap that maybe it's too good to be true? guitar halo.jpg

    That's all I'd pay.

It's ugly. It's probably not super well made. It looks like an older model. Meh.

EMGs are super cheap OEM, and Kahlers are...Kahlers.

If you dig it, it's definitely not a bad deal. Maybe it's one of the good ones.

EDIT: Additionally, these were part of regular production batches, not customs, and sold for around $800, and later blown out for like $400. Which is probably why it's priced as such.

I mean, I personally wouldn't because it's ugly as shit. But if you're interested in it and you have the money to experiment with, give it a shot. At worst, you resell it, at best, you get a guitar you actually like for a low price.

Looks like a hammered turd, but $200, I’d give it a whirl make some mods and you’d end up with a decent guitar.

I wouldn't even pay 200$ for a halo, let alone one with that body shape and a fuckin kahler. hard pass.

Are Halos known for having lots of problems ? I did read a few posts here years ago about custom ordered Halos arriving with warped necks. but I dont know much else. The Halo in my avatar isnt one I own just in case anyone is wondering that.

^I remember seeing a thread about one where the bridge had to be removed so it could be restrung. That is super-incompetent and you'd have to wonder if this was built before or after them figuring that shit out.

I'd rather throw $200 towards another used 7 that's a little bit more of a known quantity quality-wise even if the price is more.

they're supposedly better now than they were, but that's not exactly a high bar. I'd drop 200 on an agile or used ltd instead.

So does anyone have recent experience with Halo orders? I understand that it's all done it China, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's poor quality.

They offer some uncommon options (like multiscale 9 strings), but of course it's worthless if they can't actually execute on them.

The materials on the semi-custom I had were horrific. The neck was supposed to be maple but felt like boxwood, the fretboard that was supposedly ebony was clearly low-grade rosewood and the neck bowed so badly it was unplayable while they were allegedly doing a rebuild because they screwed the specs up. Oh and the Kahler was crooked. The only good thing about that guitar was that they refunded my money when the neck bowed and I decided to call the whole thing quits.

They later tried to blame all the problems on Waylon, but Jeff who is running things now was the guy that "inspected" and photographed my guitar for their website and told me how great it was before sending it out.

Basically you couldn't pay me to take one of their guitars :2c:

I'd say nope.. There are better beater guitars for 200$ out there. But that's me talking, I don't know a thing about Kahlers, I don't care much for EMG's and the body gives me the same feeling I get when looking at a photo of princess Qajar. But if you want to try it out, at least haggle. This doesn't look like something that moves easily.
