And these lists only include albums or bands I like. And its ONLY MAY! Thank ....ing god for streaming. I would have never been able to afford buying close to 20 albums already.

Loving all the great stuff this year. Anything I'm missing on my upcoming list? There has to be. The upcoming list I have there only gets us through July.

You forgot Borknagar, which is a masterpiece, and the other other masterpiece is Vektor.
The only masterpieces of the year.
Obscura is very good too, although not a masterpiece.
Considering that for me 2015 was a year of big delusions...2016 is already very good.
Some records you mentioned are let down for me, like Fallujah and Kvelertak, some are just what the bands are good to, like Dream Theater, Megadeth, Haken and Amon Amarth, while some stuff you mention are just pig manure...

Waiting for the new Decrepit Birth with anxiety.

Agree with everything except for DT, god, I can't stand that album.

But you forgot about next Devin Townsend, Meshuggah, Ihsahn, Gorguts, Eternity's End, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Abnormality, first fragment... such a good year, indeed

I've bought every one of those albums! Sadly though all were disappointing, particularly Fallujah's. Fleshgod was good, I think it falls into the double-album-bloat trap near the end though.

Vektor stands head-and-shoulders above the others, I think it's making most other metal a bit rubbish in comparison. Hopefully the new Meshuggah, Devin Townsend and Periphery III is good (the latter really could go either way).

I disagree, 2015 was a brilliant year for the genres of metal that I listen too where as this year its more quite for bands who I would look out and wait for a release.

That said there is always awesome music coming from the underground, and Kvelertak's new album is the dogs bollix.

Yeah, the new Metallica record will make even Emmure sound mind-blowing and awesome :D

And yeah...Vektor set the bar really really really high imho.
So much textures, moods and dynamics while staying genuine, pure, ambitious and humble, progressive and rooted at the same time.

I wouldn't wonder if in 20 years this record will still be remembered as a big influence for what will come after.

Circus Maximus released Havoc in March.

After The Fire is a phenomenal hommage to Prog Metal in general.

That short time travel in the instrumental section from '00 Djent over '90 Dream Theater to '80 Rush and back to modern CM is the best thing I heard this year.

Like seriously what the hell happened to them, they have gotten consistently meh since the first album but that was just painful.

    ...., Mercenary disbanded!?

Also can't wait for Devin's new album, I met him at the Axe Generation show, He said Anekke Von Giebersen is part of this one as well. I listened to Z2 every morning to school last year.

After the Burial's release this year totally slayed.
Black Crown Initiate is supposed to be releasing something this year as well.
Haven't seen the new ERRA album mentioned either, Architects, too.
The new Humanity's Last Breath EP was brutal.
Plus a lot of the stuff mentioned earlier, all off the top of my head. Buckle up boys, it's gunna be a crazy year.

Everblack is one of the most underrated records of all times and all things music.
And Kral + The Sandanger brothers = AWESOMENESS!
And if you can't stand the CAPS LOCK...:fawk:

There are probably a lot I forget or just didn't listen to. That's why this year is blowing my mind. I'm not saying they are all masterpieces. I just enjoyed all of those albums.

    If new Metallica this year:eek:

    Best ever
