For me it's drinking. I can smoke up some doobers and then lay out righteous riffage all day and night but as soon as I drink alcohol I just don't feel like playing. It doesn't make sense to me why, especially because I love playing when on other varieties of intoxicants, and I know loads of people like to drink (in moderation) when jamming, but if I have even a couple beers I just put down my guitar.

Also, don't get frustrated at something you can't do, then chuck your guitar to the side of you into you sliding glass door, causing it to shatter and the shards scratch up your finish and stab your girlfriends cat, causing her to kick you out of her beautiful home you've been staying at while pretending to look for a job, making you fall into a depression where you gotta sell your body for hits of meth and live in your car that won't start anyway. Not a good idea.

Oh yes. Back in my smot poking day, I would just completely lost in riffage, for hours. I love it. It's such a great, creative mindset to get yourself in.
