pay attention, this is some next level ..... These guys have it all, seriously. If you thought Alkaloid was cool but a little too wanky/weird, and think Obscura didn't quite hit the mark with their newest, fear not. Fractal Universe is here for you. These guys have the tech and instrumental prowess to go toe to toe with any of the legends. They seem heavily influenced by the above, even Hannes Grossmans solo work, but imo they craft much more memorable songs. Intricate riffs, incredible solos, guest appearance by that guy from Shining, and enough groove and lurching riffs to keep songs heavy. do yourself an immediate favor and listen to their new album

I've heard it and liked it. A good friend of mine is constantly finding all these new progressive/technical death metal bands including Fractal Universe and posting them on his Facebook page.

Songs are at the bottom on the link.

If you're a huge fan of progressive/tech death metal, Tech Death Tuesday is something you may want to keep up with because they showcase a lot of new bands and normally have a few songs/whole album for you to listen to.

it's actually a huge plus in my book. I love obscura, they have such tasty riffs while still being pretty heavy, which is so rare anymore imo.

Meh, if I want to listen to Obscura I'll listen to Obscura and if I want to listen to Alkaloid I'll listen to Obscura instead since they're better in every way. These dudes aren't too bad but they're songs aren't catchy to me at all, some cool playing here and there though.

Not too bad but I probably won't add it to the collection. I'm not really even sure what it is that sets some tech bands above others for me, it's really subtle things.

I think for me, Gorod tick the box that these guys are shooting at.

I remember having Youtube suggest this band to me last year. Almost passed over it because the name made me think djent band, but was pleasantly surprised with good tech-death. I'll have to check out the rest of their stuff!

the obscura and alkaloid influence is strong, but honestly i prefer this to Obscura ...as much as i like them, their music needs more balls

    Lol

Ok pretty cool, very talented but that name is a little ridiculous.

I'm going to name my band Bogner Horizon.

Hate to be the guy, and I totally understand why it may sound silly to SSO gear obsessed members (I'm one of them), but outside of this realm it simply means...

    Fractal - as in
    [IMG]

    or

    or

    Universe - as in
    [IMG]

    or

See, it's really not so silly now :D.

Science and math have become the new filler that used to be gore in metal.
