non-men (and most successful musicians) tend largely tend not to give a shit about gear beyond functionality IME. this obsession with toys is, while certainly not without its intersections, largely a d00d hobby.

I actually sent an offer for a trade. There was an LTD H-1007FM deluxe closish to where I live (1 and a half hour drive). I had two options I could trade for, a Schecter C-1 Custom I recently got (NGD pending) or my Schecter E-1 Custom. I've had the E-1 for quite a while and have changed several pickups in it but I'm never happy with the sound. It is just a bit too dark. Plus the neck feels a bit round and chunky. It's a looker though and I won't say I wasn't enjoying it when playing it. But I wouldn't pick it up as much. Now the C1 is a new addition and while it has the SD Custom Custom which I'm on the fence for, it plays and sounds better than the E-1. But the C-1 cost me less and the E-1 I'd be breaking even lol. Plus when I took the E-1 out to play I was having second thoughts lol. Decided to go ahead with the trade and I'm glad I did. I'm enjoying the LTD a lot more and even though I thought I wouldn't like the SD Pegasus, I'm digging it haaaard. So happy with th trade so far!

Well, I'm currently waiting for buddy to show up to trade his gen1 evh 5150iii 100w for my mesa single recto 50.

I doubt I'll keep the evh but have always wanted to try one and i figure I'm trading up and it SHOULD be easier to sell or trade a 5150iii.

Am I an idiot? 🥴

Woa fuck no that’s a brilliant trade, that’s a lop sided trade at best and you’re on the winning end IMO.

The single rec is cool but those EVH heads sell themselves if you decide you didn’t like it.

It sounds great (as expected) but the whole evh thing and the stripes etc always really turned me off lol I'm not a van Halen fan (I know I'm dumb) and more importantly everyone and their grandma's use a 5150iii and the thought of joining the herd is just kinda BLeCk🤢 mind you I'm a sucker for rectifiers so again.... Im dumb lol.
But yeah, im pretty dang happy about this trade!
Let's see what someone might wanna trade for it!

I'd say if you like the sound, then aesthetics and following the herd should not affect your decision to keep the amp. I'm not a EVH fan but I love my Peavey 5150II and would not mind getting one of these, if they have something extra to offer over my Peavey. Rectos are super cool but you already have the Roadster. But if you have something in mind you want more then go for a trade!
