Sorry for all my posts, I'm strangely active today.. Or extra bored at work.

Anyway here's a thread to discuss if you should do that trade or not, I'll start!

I have the chance to trade my mesa single rectifier 50 head for a fryette ps100 powerstation.

Ive always been intrigued by the PS, Itd get use as an attenuator for my loud amps, will use it to direct record, and could see myself using it to run preamp pedal rigs live. I like my single recto quite a bit but I own a dual roadster so it's not like I'd be missing the recto tone. Hmmm totally on the fence.

I think @Deadpool_25 mailed it.

Hoping to do a trade this weekend myself.

You guys doing in person trades? I did one in-the-mail trade like 10 years ago, and since then have been petrified of getting scammed. FWIW, I've only been scammed by luthiers, never a normal dude. But I do see posts about it.

And @Gmork don't apologize for multiple threads. Nothing worse that a lazy Sunday and I'm the only one on here.

Yeah in person. Think I MIGHT go for it. It's not the fun trade I was hoping for, woulda been cool if someone offered another cool amp but the fryette is the sort of thing that could be super useful for recording/playing amps at home and running 0reamp stuff into and id probably never straight up buy one myself if I had a wad of cash lol

I'd combine the PS100 with an Engl e530 preamp (low maintenance btw - only 2 12AX7) and there it is a nice death metal rig (& not only of course)... But again the rectifier is worth much more...

They're different things, no?

Amp head vs. powered attenuator reactive load thing?

Seems like asking should I trade my bike for a washing machine. Well which do you need?

I don't know much about the PS but if it's voiced to be flat it might need a power amp sim for use with guitar preamps?

People trade guitars for amps, pickups for pedals, etc. Why does this matter? He's trading an amp that he seems to have a few of(not like multiples, but they all seem to, you know, amplify), for something he doesn't have and wants to know if people think the monetary value is worth the trade. Not that wild of a concept.

Geez, calm down? I just meant it's hard to answer since it depends on his own situation so he might need to think that over. And added something I thought might be relevant if he's gonna use it as an amp. Which he might if he trades an amp for it, was my thought. Didn't think my reply was offensive at all but maybe it came off that way. Not my intention.

I also did not mean any offense in my post, and was merely conversing  🤜 🤛

I honestly don't understand why the PS-100 is worth so much used and don't see it staying that way long. I think the only reason they sell for $900ish is because not many were made before COVID and the part shortage. That said, the Single Recto wasn't worth very much before COVID, either. I'd say it would still be worth more than that, though... No?

If you'll use the PS-100 more, I say go for it. It's a cool unit for attenuating an amp or powering a modeling rig. I've found my PS-1 lacks a lot of depth as a power amp for my Synergy setup since, even with all the switches engaged, it's still very flat and sterile but it sounds great with some power amp modeling.

I’ve been wanting a ps-100 since it was announced so my bias obviously leans that way. I’d be putting a tiny terror up to it in about five seconds if I bought one. @Gmork I bet that RG75 would be bananas with 100 watts of tube power with depth and presence.

I'd do that trade in a heartbeat. I loathe single recs (and recs in general) though I'm inherently biased.

All bias aside though, the flexibility of it alone makes it a no brainer

So you've got a loud amp, and a thing that makes loud amps less loud.

Seems like a no-brainer, or perhaps a no-hearing-in-the-high-frequencies-er.

why not - I have a feeling you're decided already, you just need to hear/read your opinion from different people like a woman
