B standard with 12-54. No desire to go lower save maybe drop A.

What's the lowest tuning you put your Les Pauls to?

So far I've only gone to c# or c standard with 12-52.

I'm kind of debating on going to b# or something, but not sure if that will require insanely high action; or insanely thick strings, or both.

I'm liking the sound of baritone, but don't want a baritone....could go for a 25.5 scale lp of some sort, perhaps
There’s no sharp/flat between B and C, so B#is the same as C. If you want to go down a half step from there, you can go to B without issue on a 24.75” scale.

If only they made a kind of guitar that came stock in that tuning. Maybe you could even dedicate an entire forum to it
Baritone forums exist, Im sure.

I’ve had a couple sevens and a baritone 6 - fun but I have no issue downtuning a les paul to do it .

I seem to b in the minority, but I like the 57 Classics (and the 57 Classic Plus). What is it not doing for you? What amp are you planning through?
If you are minority, I am with you. My 68RI with 57 Classics is the best sounding guitar I have, played through my ENGL Powerball 100 and ENGL 4x12 Cab. Can't speak for played through other amps. It is very smooth sounding, hard to describe, it just sounds really good.

I also love P90's, but they are not the best for metal. My ESP Original with EMG Het Set also sounds killer through the ENGL and it has just a bit more bite/growl than the 68RI, but I think the 68RI edges it out for me for personally on sound preference, all preference though.

Perusing reverb for Les Paul Customs and I can across this in a listing. "Rumor is Gibson is no longer taking any orders for the silver burst finish". Anyone know if there's any truth to this?

IIRC the Customs were thinner, highly chambered, and didn't have an ebony board. I know the nothing impacts tone guys will say that doesn't matter, but the consensus seems to be they don't actually sound like a Custom so they're not as popular.

Never owned one so can't really comment one way or another.

yeah, given how so many people complain about the weight of LPs, id assume they would all flock towards heavily chambered guitars (which, for some reason, is frowned upon). Or Thinner bodies like ESP Eclipse (which are loved on ESP, but hated/ignored on Gibson?)

i dont get it

I just don't really think most people that want Gibson Les Pauls want them to feel like...not a Gibson Les Paul. And in my experience, Lites are totally fine guitars, but don't really feel like a Les Paul. I don't think they were really ever viewed as "real" Les Pauls by Gibson fans either. ESP is probably more appealing for people that want a different take on that idea, and not appealing at all for someone that wants the real thing, so they just kind of didn't work for anyone.

Yeah, tradition is king with Gibson. Even back in the 50s and 60s you had Gretsch and Guild as different takes on a Gibson-ish design.

Good luck finding one, when people do singlecuts to compete with Les Pauls, they always, ALWAYS also match the scale which is a fucking bummer because there's about 3 models off hand that are vaguely Gibson shaped and greater than 24.75" scale (Viper baritone, the new EC baritone or EC-401B if you can find them, and the Epi Iron Cross thing that looks dumb as hell).

humm....may want to update that list?
PRS SE/PRS Core/PRS S2 - most of them have 25 inch scale. One of their Tremonti have a 25.5
Carvin CT is 25
Jackson Monarch
Precision guitars
Epiphone Matt Heafy's 2022/2023 sigs are at 25.5

wont be surprised if others have that scale length too.

Add actual LPs to this list too. Definitely harder to find, but they've made them.

The Tremonti baritone is discontinued I believe and even that being "normal" scale at 25.5 is one model. The other PRS models are 1/4" greater than a regular LP, hardly a difference. I also don't really see them as a one to one competitor aesthetically.

The CT is closer, but those aren't a traditional off the shelf to buy, and again, still not 25.5"

Monarkh is 24.75" scale, at least the Pro series, which are the only ones worth it for that model.

No clue who Precision Guitars is, think that says enough.

And the Heafy is our only actual Les Paul on this list, and is a new model, so I'll yield that I did not think of it; but I'm very surprised they let him do 25.5" on it.

I’ll make a proper NGD thread when I have a chance to take some decent photos but this ‘92 Custom is back home with me after 9 years out in the wild and a super bizarre chance encounter again last month.

This thing absolutely rips
