My band spent two months too many in tracking, and then had pressing issues (literally the pressing), and now we're finally getting around to releasing our album. We had begun selling it physically and in stores, but when a few promotion opportunities fell through, we decided that if you can't be first, be last. We released the album on December 31, making it available for online download at 11:59 p.m. We are idiots.

If you're interested, here she be, "Haunt" by Raiju! https://raijumusic.bandcamp.com/

FFO: Protest The Hero, Between The Buried and Me, Textures, Mute, DEP, Muse

Do you mean December? Otherwise it just doesn't make a lot of sense to me ...

Anyway, taking a listen now. Sounds very PTH-inspired to my ears. Which is certainly not a bad thing.

Yes, my bad, edited to reflect that haha. And thanks! We dig PTH for sure, and with our singer it's hard to avoid the Rody comparisons

I really like this musically. The vocals are hit-or-miss for me at times though. Not that they're bad, I'm just not feeling them at certain points. Reminds me a lot of Geddy Lee's vocals though.

Yessir, at least I did. I lived there for 7 years and was convinced to move to the left side of the bay. Not gonna lie, I miss living in Berk quite often.

Traditionally, independent labels have tried to avoid releasing albums just in time for Christmas because that's when the major labels (with lots of promotion money to spend) dropped albums. So what they did instead was to target releases in late January/early February and September because that's when all the middle school, high school and college kids are starting a new semester, they are able to talk up and build buzz for the albums they like.

I don't know how relevant that is today with Facebook, Twitter, various forums, etc. where people can generally stay up to date, but don't sweat missing the planned release date - you can probably make it work to your advantage for promotional purposes given the new semester starting up in another week or two.

It's actually been kind of a blessing in disguise for us, actually. We've had a few months playing a lot of shows and selling the albums in hard copy to people that see us play, and in terms of meeting people who really enjoy the music and stay in touch, it's been an amazing experience. Now that we're finally putting it online, we're hearing from a lot of their friends, which is a pretty cool thang.

Berkeley is a world class university, if there's ONE thing you come out knowing, it's how to train your dragon.

Thanks man! Yeah he's not only way up there, but way out there as well. We love it, and understand that not everyone will. Glad you enjoyed it anyways!

Double awesome. You ever get down with the Fenton's challenge? I failed miserably once, and what I did consume came up shortly thereafter, but it was enjoyable for a brief moment haha
