Nah, another won't be in the cards for a long while.

Ever since I've been really paying attention to them, their Claro Walnut has always been my favorite top wood, but a) it's just never worked out for the builds I wanted at the time, and b) I really would be disappointed if it just looked like brown-stained flamed maple, so I would only do it with a top I could pick...and the one they had today was probably in my top 3. It was the sister top (same billet) as this:

I feel you. They turned me onto figured claro walnut tops. If I could ever get a sister top to this one I'd figure out how to build a guitar now. Kiesel.jpg

Some quick thoughts:

I'm very happy with how it turned out aesthetically. I know it won't be everyone's cup of tea, but it totally nails the ridiculous 80s vibe I was going for.

As for playability: it's top-notch. This guitar came ready to play out of the box--no adjustments necessary. Fit, finish, and fretwork are all impeccable.

Though my experience in the past with owning/playing several Kiesels has always been positive, it's been a while since I've had one, so I forgot how good they are. Getting this one has confirmed for me that there's no better value when it comes to high-end American-made guitars. Y'all can do whatever mental gymnastics you need to justify a $5K Suhr, TA, PRS, etc. but as someone who has played/owned pretty much every sort of fancy-pants guitar, the quality simply isn't better from any of those brands in comparison to Kiesel. Of course, I'm not saying there aren't other reasons to prefer them.

Now, I must go forth and SWIRL.
Man that's a super rad axe! Congrats!

Late to the party but that's amaaaaazing. I would put that on any one of a number of guitars I have right now if I could.

Man the footprint of the trem is huge. I liked the first better frankly.

Edit: quoted wrong post, screw it.

Anyone been quoted a custom build time lately? Given the LTD javier 8 string I ordered got delayed I was considering ordering a Kiesel 8 string.

My local music go round just picked up 3 Vaders and I finally got to try one, VERY comfortable, and played like a million bucks like my vanquish. But. That headstock chopped off at the nut drove me crazy, I much preferred the strandberg that has a bit of...well, erm...headstock behind the nut.

Thanks man. I have some custom Schecter USAs coming in similar color combos. I am going towards more solids 80's inspired finishes with maple and richlite boards this days with simpler specs and asthetics. Seems to stand out.

I got a richlite board on my swooooorl guitar and I dig it a lot. I'm not missing ebony at all.
