im by no means a Swedish death metal guy, but looking for an extended range guitar that doesn’t break the bank, but also, doesn’t look like something purely heavy metal. I’m a jazz funk gospel player. Currently playing a strat and a steinberger.

    Thanks in advance. Ad

Grab that Gibson Les Paul Standard 7 on Reverb so I don't have to.

I like Strandbergs too. I don't think they look very metal all the time. I have a non swirled Singularity and it--to me--just looks like a headless 7 string HSH strat with some ergo tweaks.

Not sure the price range you're talking about but there's non metal 7 strings over at Rondo Music. Well, there used to be a lot more, but at least they aren't all black : )

    What's your budget?

I think the EBMM JP models that aren't the Majesty model look fairly classy. The PRS mentioned above looks nice. Lots of companies make "strat" style 7-strings, too.

There's many Strat looking 7s out there. Eastman has a 7 Archtop in their lineup and they build really nice guitars.

Get a Strandberg if you like headless. But I should warn you, you'll be comfortably playing jazz/gospel/funk, thinking you're safe from the Swedish death metal and as soon as you hit the low B you accidentally tuned to drop G# that'll be it. Just save yourself the journey, get a ZIPHOS, Axe FX 3 and bow down to all mighty Djod.

Yeah, need a budget here. I was thinking of the KxK 7DC Semi-hollow on here and Reverb, if it's still around. I have one of the few made and it's exquisite for jazz and anything clean. That Carvin above looks nice as hell too, and a steal! PRS SE SVN or something like it too would be great. But yeah, need to know what budget you're shooting with.

Plenty of mid-sized luthiers have in-stock 7’s in a variety of shapes and styles. So you get a middle ground of more options but also an existing reputation.

That said I think everyone offers at least one strat or tele shaped 7 string by this point.

Ibanez AX7521 is a nice, inexpensive option. The cherry fudge finish is gorgeous too. It's been some time since I last looked into their prices, but solid examples were pretty easy to find for under $200.
