Suggestion for a high quality 7 string with more classic neck shape?

Every 7 string is thin/fast/etc and I find that term has just come to mean uncomfortable to me.

Ibanez, Music Man, Schecter KM USAs, Mayos, Aristides, they are all quite thin. Even Kiesel has a what feels like a D shape to me that makes my thumb collapse in big chords. Rounder necks I find keep my thumb bent on the right position. Getting an old hellraiser isn't the option I want, I haven't tried a PRS 7, but they only offer the SE. Strandberg was ok for me once upon a time but again only do indonesian builds and the ones I've tried haven't been as inspiring as my washburn one which had real design flaws that have been remedied a bit by new versions of their hardware.

I saw iconic guitars makes a 7 strat that could be an option, and the majesty 7 isnt as bad as the JP in terms of neck shape but is still a bit thin and I think its also hideous. I love 7s, but this makes me want to give up and just downtune a 6, but as all of you know its just not the same. Bonus points for fixed bridge.

So a boomer 7.
Fender and squire made some. There’s a Gibson 7.

might have to go custom.

Sort of? I don't really like gibsons at all shape wise I find them uncomfortable, but the AZ 7 was a thought its just often heavy as hell.

Have you tried ESP's? I don't like their 7's because the necks are a bit beefier than the norm but that might be for your benefit.

And I can't say for sure because I never played one, but Caparison is known for bigger necks than the norm. Someone else here probably has experience with the brand.

ESP would def be a contender, I had an RL-600 years ago with the "thin U" neck and I thought it was insanely round and comfortable, my thumb didn't collapse on it. I think I just have grown out of D shapes, its not necessarily about the thickness.

I know you mentioned Mayos in the post as having too thin of a neck. Have you tried a Regius? Mine seems to be on par with some of my older strats...nowhere near Ibanez thinness.

Kiesel also has a thick neck profile you can request I'm 99% sure, @spudmunkey might be able to tell you the specs on that.

No but they seem to be 2x on average the price of duvells and quite rare, but I would love to give one a shot.

Aren't BC Rich Stealth Necks fat af? Maybe the 7 String version of that?

the neck on mine is a D shape, not wizard thin but definitely not a round sorta thing, the neck on my old ESP was definitely thicker

Those old squier stagemasters. I believe mine had a fatty neck but it's been years since I've owned one.

.03" thicker than the standard neck (and is the standard on the Holdsworth model). They also have a "double thick" which is .06" thicker. The shape of the back of the neck is the same, but the sides just get taller.

The neck on my Vigier is a D and is certainly far from thin, but in a good way. I used to have a 7 string S series and that thing was basically 2 dimensional, but the Vigier's got a good bit of girth to it. Plus they're one of the companies that still seem to be believe in middle pickups.

the older Carvin DC727's have a slightly thicker rounder neck shape than the Ibanez 7's do. the one I just traded had a very comfortable neck on it.
