Strats for me! Love the look of the Les Paul but that is about it for me.

Tell that to all the bands who use Les Pauls / Gibson related guitars that plays stoner, doom, sludge :ugh:

Jokes aside, I relate to what you said..... I'm more of a Strat/RG player, and currently have a borrowed Les Paul at home, and for me the smaller shorter scale and closer string spacing on LP guitars make me be more careful with chords, and have more attention while playing leads (especially in the higher frets).

Les Pauls are fun for playing some riffs and heavy stuff, and I prefer the stock 12' radius instead of the 9.5' (or the even worst 7.25') from Fenders...but in the end I prefer a Strat, especially if it's a Superstrat (but I'm also jonesing for that new Fender Professional Strat with single coils).

Yeah, what I mean is that you can't really play like this on a Les Paul, it just won't let you get away with this kind of picking:

I like both, but I find the Strat body more comfortable. The majority of my guitars are based on that shape. Plus you can mod them easily. My current American Special Strat, inexpensive and plays and sounds great.

Strat. It's just more comfortable to me. I guess that's because my first guitar was a Strat copy.

heh I voted LP but am a diehard ST-shape dude for playability and ergo-stuff. I mean: i like LP and the sound and the aesthetics but...but...how can you play this thing? :D

With strats you cant be generic tho, the radius, neck shape and fret differencess can be huge. A couple of weeks ago I played a vintage strat...damn the neck was very thick, the radius very curved and the frets very small. Nice instrument, but wouldn't say my fave between one and a good LP.

LP no question. They look 10x cooler to me, sound better, and even though they make models without one, most have a middle pickup and I find they get in the way of my picking.
