    It's about a 6-7 week period where one joins a fraternity. You are a pledge and not actually a member. One of the things we have to do is complete a bunch of little tasks to get signatures from the actives. Most them are simple like go to the gym/eat lunch/drink/clean up campus with me, but some are group tasks like the whole pledge class (the group of people you are trying to join with) dying parts of their hair red. It's generally all in the name of good fun and it's there so you can get to know the actives and your pledge class better by making you do things you normally may not do with them.
