It djents just fine with its mid spike. Plus, everyone djenting has so many eq's at their disposal now that if they can't sculpt a tone pre amp input they're not trying.

Used JB's for 17 years in my main live guitar (Mayones Regius 7) for my former band Textures. It's great for hi-gain sounds where you want to KEEP the transparency of open chords where you hit a lot of strings at the same time. Lots of tone & clarity, not too heavy but it results in a TIGHT sound in a live situation: hence my main live guitar.

Basically “everyone has enough EQ to toss at it that anyone can make the tone suck dogshit through a straw, if they want to”.

I used to own a few Jacksons that had JB's as stock pickups. Never thought about replacing them because they were good enough for my ears. This is not at all the case with Ibanez, for example..
    JB's are great imo!

I have a JB in my LTD Amott 600 and I never want to replace it.
I've buy an external blackout preamp from SD but never install it.
This guitar is mahogany body and neck with rosewood fingerboard and is my secret weapon. I have a lot of friends who hate the JB but love this guitar because of it !
The sound is fat, full and really clear. I've some crazy expensive guitar that doesn't sound (And feel) this good. I've try it with a tons of different amps and if you boost it, you can do metal really well.

It's my only guitar with an sh4. One of my sevenstring have a Nazgul Sentient set and I don't like it as much as the sh4. The 90's vibe on this pickup is awesome : Not to tight, full and clear but can be everything with the right amp and boost.
Note that I don't like the "dry tight lows" sound ala Engl of Fortin stuff.
