I dig it! I'm increasingly feeling like I'll need to snag this album. Way to go, grampas!
Maybe gain is the wrong word. Guitar tone is weak on the Metallica track.
@HeHas, yes that bands guitar tone is very similar, but I think it sounds 'heavier' due to the more intense drumming and singing style in the total mix. Sounds good though and 'heavier' than the tallica track overall.
Metallica's gonna be on Fallon tonight, I know they'll probably play Hardwired, but I'm hoping they play this song instead lol
hardwired has too many swears for Fallon show
cool song. finally something good.
His vocals sound ....ing good here.
Yeah i know, i watched it live, it was amazing. They sounded great!
Loving this song. It's a great jam song in my opinion. Loving Hetfield's voice too. Prefer it much more than Hardwired.
Welcome back Metallica! That was great!!
I'll throw my hat into the 'like it' pile...aside from harking back to the early Metallica sound, it's a pretty great song overall.
Also, the solo was better on the second listen (on the Fallon clip above...dunno if he played it note for note). It's definitely average Kirk in any case. It's been a running joke for decades that the guy isn't the best guitarist in the biz...he's probably not even the best guitarist in Metallica So I don't know where this nostalgia for his lead playing is coming from. He's had some solid leads over the years for sure, but let's not get carried away here.
Also, am I the only one who thinks the Black album is one of their best? Don't know why it always gets .... on.
The thing bout KH"s leads/solos, IMHO, his best works are on LOAD/ReLOAD era(post Justice). The solos on Memory Remains/Devil's Dance/Fixxxer, just to name a few, are his most expressive!!
really? i think the consensus would be his best solos are on songs like Fade to Black, Welcome Home (Sanitorium), One and Blackened...
mostly the ones where he didn't own a wah
Just saw the live version and it sonded way better to my ears. Then I realized it's in Eb. It sounds better with James current voice and also sounds Slayerish in the beggining. They should have stayed with Eb tuning from Load onwards in my opinion.
I'm really not sure why they don't record in Eb. Was the fan backlash about detuning THAT bad?
Can't tell the difference when songs are in Eb or standard tbh, but I'll say this. Played the song loud as .... in my car and it was amazing, best song they've put out in a while
I doubt they'd call anyone at that point. Kirk not being very good (I mean, even I can't bungle the harvester of sorrow solo, but he does all the time) isn't anything new, but at that stage they're buddies who have a lot of history together and Kirk is the perfect guy for the slot, considering Lars's ego. He's fine not being in the spotlight, he got to be a millionnaire in the process and in 30 years there never has been a rumor of him wanting to leave or the band being dissatisfied with him. Metallica never actually fired anyone since Mustaine, I really don't see them doing it now, as the relationship between members seems pretty stable.
The best lead and background singer Metallica ever had wants a word with you.
Jason wasn't fired, he quit.
That's one way to say it. Technically right, but you know the drill.
