I've got an EMG (soapbar) equipped guitar coming in, and I'm right away thinking about changing the bridge PU to passive - reason being that I've become a fan of the volume pot. On my other guitars I tweak it to get cleaner sounds and I know from experience that active EMG's don't really do that really well because of the preamp. Changing channels in the amp isn't possible because my amp has only one channel (and I'll keep it that way, thank you very much ;)

So Nazgul users, does it clean well when you bring the volume down? :)

The other option would be an M7 which I'd imagine cleans up well because of the lower output, but the SD is notably cheaper.

I have a Nazgul in one of my sevens.Love the crunch sounds I get out of it,but it's not very responsive to the volume knob with my setup.Ymmv.
