Well, if you prefer fat necks, you might as well go for the Schecter.
The Ibanez will gave a slimmer neck with a faster feel, but bear in mind, that it's pickups suck.(much more than the Duncan Designeds in the Schecter)

And yes on the drop A#

Edit: Oh, the Schecter is basswood and the Ibby is mahogany... Matters of personal preference.

The RGA7 is something like a flawed masterpiece. It needs a proper setup and better pickups, the stock pickups just suck -__- oh and the Gibraltar bridge RULES!

definitely the shecter but if you're going to be tuning that low i would get a floyd rose guitar but thats just me. schecter has a longer scale neck so it will have better intonation

    Thanks for the reply.

Which 7 string model would you suggest? Within a budget of $650?

Thanks for the reply. But I prefer fixed bridges.

Plus I think I'll be experimenting with my tuning so a fixed bridge would be a better option.

Which Schecter model would you suggest? Apart from the Omen series within a budget of $650?

I've had an rga7 for about a month now and it rocks:hbang: Yea the pickups suck but 9/10 youre gonna change the pickups in a guitar anyway. For the price though I would jump on this..Agile Septor Pro 727 MN Black Flame at RondoMusic.com Much better deal:yesway:

How? Tune up the rest of the strings a half step?
Sounds like a weird thing to do (?)

Ibanez vs. Schecter is always a matter of preference because they are so different, you really should try them out to see which one fits better.
I love ibanez and hate schecter, so I got the rga and I couldn't be happier, but keep in mind that in case you get the RGA, a pickup change is mandatory, because the stock ones sound like farting in a walkie talkie, while the schecter is more likely to be playable as is

It seems like some people here are getting confused. If I understand correctly, he's talking about drop B flat (Or A sharp you could say). He's wanting to tune half a step UP. So all the talking of a need for Floyd rose or the impossibility of doing so on a seven isn't really true.

Personally, I'd pick up the ibanez! As stated people, they're flawed master pieces. A proper set up will go a long ways, as well as a pick up change. My 2 cents.

Well, for 699.00 you could opt for the ESP Ltd MH-417, which I'm thrilled with. Pickups, neck, look and feel, etc. all great, IMO. And, some places you can find 15% off promo codes, etc. that could drop the price better into your range. Personally, I'd save the extra 50.00 and get that one. FWIW, I bought mine at Guitar Center and used a promo code to get it for 100.00 off.

Note: just found said 15% off promo code for you: use GAME46 and take 15% off that 699.00 base price = 594.15. !

WHAT HE SAID!!! Do it. The 417 is an amazing guitar, looks sexy as hell and plays just as good and has stock EMGs so you dont have to change anything other than strings right away. And the plus is it being Neck-thru.

I will vouch for the LTD 417. My friend uses it and it's fucking tight.
