Uneven Structure's latest album Februus. Also, Scale the Summit.
Don't Uneven Structures play 7 strings?
I second that. However, i also want to add that Februus is great album to listen to as well. However I'm not sure which songs in particular are 8 string. Nevertheless its a great album! Listen to Plenitude off it!
Haha, yea the only reason I didn't mention Februus was because I believe almost all of it is 7-string territory.
Either way, this album is amazing. A great mix of singing and screaming, and ambient and heavy music.
Here's the new ep:
And here are some songs from Februus:
This last one, to me shows just how good their vocalist is:
It's a pretty solid ep. They have an album coming...eventually.
I hate threads like this because there are 8 string players that tune higher than I do on my 7. So unless you're actually wanting to hear something with a vaugely wider range of notes, the amount of strings doesn't really matter.
On topic though:
Yes, two covers and one instrumental but whatever. Idgaf.
Means End FTW!
Such an awesome band
...and the debut album The Didact is just brilliant.
*the sound of my world falling down around me*
They're a metal band now?
I second Means End, best metal album of the year by a huge margin. It's mostly clean singing.
Animals as Leader's second album has a lot of 8 string, the first not so much, unfortunately the first album is also much better than the second imo.
I feel like bands with the word 'structure' in the name sound so generic, that even though I've heard of Uneven Structure, I never took the time to check them out. Until this thread, and I just bought 8 this morning and it is friggin awesome. Plus they play in the tuning I keep my guitar in so I'mma have to start learning this stuff as soon as I get home.
Just an update, so far I'm really digging Uneven Structure and Monuments. Haven't gotten too much time yet to give a full on listen to a full album from each but will likely torrent them this weekend and if I like enough I will be purchasing the CD's. That's what I do, so sue me, but I torrent first to see if I love it than buy the CD on Amazon or whatever available means the band has. I find listening on my MP3 player while commuting and such is the best way for me to get in the listening time to see how much I like it.
Thanks again guys!! Even two bands would be a great boost to my listening pool!
Sorry - double post.
Hey guys, get a load of this, somebody neg rep'd me me over the above post Here's what the person wrote:
"the vocals have nothing to do with anger..."
Boy, what is this forum coming to?
well unfortuantly there are not alot out there... but slipknot korn dont use 8 strings... so i'll name a phew 7 stringers.
tesseract have 2 albums out personally i prefer the 1st but 2nd is just as if not more interesting.
the original singer from the 1st album is in a band called SkyHarbor there awesome!
theres jeff loomis( i think uses 8 strings on this one) whos recently formed a band with keith merrow called conqouring dystopia.. thats some intense shit!!
animals as leaders 1st album is rel heavy and its instrumental ofcourse(just in case youve not heard em)
Do mention of Haken?
Take dream theater + 8 strings + songwriting capabilities - nasal vocals = haken
The new fear factory has some singing mixed with the br00tz vocals and has a lot of 8 string. I likeit a lot, seriously brutal stuff.
