Ok, I would just like to preface by saying I am pretty certain this guy is either severely misinformed or full of shit, but just in case I am in fact the one missing something: is this a real thing?

I only know of the old Pro-Line series, but they were only "Randy Rhoads Ibanez" because they were blatant copies of the Jackson RR (for which they were sued, I believe), not because they were actually associated with the man himself.

At any rate, they looked nothing like the guitar in the link provided.

I'm not even certain that's an Ibanez.

That's what I am leaning towards as well. It kinda looks like the old Ibby headstock from the (shitty) photos provided, but it looks like there isn't any insignia at all.

Looks like a late 80s Ibanez Roadstar, but sanded and modded possibly ?

It looks like a striped down G&L to me. The Jerry Cantrell sig looks pretty close to that IIRC.

It looks like an old Ibanez Roadstar II that somebody sanded down :2c: Certainly has nothing to do with Randy Rhoads

    (as ZOMB13 already said)

Do that even make guitars out of Oak?

I know mahogany, maple, ebony, ash, alder, koa, and so on but i've never seen Oak before

I'm almost certain the Red Special is oak.

I've seen oak before. A 70's bass from Ibanez. Weighed a ton! It infact put me off Ibanez till I recently found the SR series.

I am about positive it is an old sanded down roadstar.

Yep, definitely a Roadstar. Best case scenario, he just confused "Roadstar" for "Randy Rhoads. Worst case, he's banking on selling this to someone who knows nothing about guitars, has done no research whatsoever, and is willing to buy anything with even the most tangential association with Randy.

Actually, I can totally see that best case scenario being what happened. People from Gardnerville aren't exactly the brightest cookies in the sea...

    Neither have I!

I wonder what the tonal properties of oak would be?
My guess is 'cause of the density of it, Very Bassy!
Or as some bass player once said 'wooly'

Not sure why you'd bother calling about this, these are on ebay (with paint) all the time for that price or less
