Quick question about Active to passive pickup swap

    Hey guys! if i have an EMG equipped guitar and i am swaping it for dimarizos, will i have to route it in any way? or will it drop in neatly? thank you

    If it's a 6-string swap, it's just a simple drop in. If it's 7 or 8 string, you'll have some noticable gaps around the pickup.

    With all cases, though, you'll need to have the pots changed out for (preferably) 500K ones.

    With pickup rings on a 6 string it will be no issue at all.

    You'll also need to make sure you can ground the electronics to your bridge.

    If I'm not mistaken, doesn't that require a hole drilled in the body to accommodate that?

    I heard about a couple of people having some issues with that.

    yes. depending on what bridge you have this can either be easy or a nightmare. if you have a floyd its not too scary, but tuneomatics are always fun. you'd need to pull the bushing then drill a hole to the electronics cavity. the hum youll get from not grounding your bridge is noticeable. i just did this a month ago in my blackjack.
