the official site of strandberg effective of 2019 says '...our 'genre guitars' are built by Cort in Indonesia', This is the only production site in Indonesia mentioned, although there are other countries mentioned.
Cort is a brand name of Cor-Tek.
This is the first time I hear MIC Cor-Tek is better guitar overall than MII Cor-Tek. Please explain.

 

Same factory doesn't equal same quality.

It's about how much QA/QC the brand wants to pay for as well as pre-shipment checks.

They make guitars at the quality they're paid to make. Labor is cheaper there. A $200 MIC guitar will be better than a $200 american guitar. A $1000 MIC guitar will be better than a $1000 MIA guitar.

 

No, I just lost all interest in PRS when they went overseas in 1997 or whenever it was... So this is just another step in an even worse direction for me.

Sort of. I can see just accepting the differences in labor markets, but China is a bit of a special case, when compared to S. Korea, Indonesia, etc when it comes to the country of origin leaving a morally icky taste in one's mouth.

Chinese factories seem to handle more semi hollow, acoustic models for brands than most other countries unless I'm mistaken? And do them pretty well.

 

Acoustics and similar are a lot more labor intensive than solid bodies, that's just how it is, so early on it made sense for production to go to the region with the lowest labor costs.
