Tried out this Kramer today and I'm blown away by it. It reminds me a little of an old school Jackson Soloist with a slightly thicker neck. Now I really want one

I’ve been set on the new Schecter JB 7 but PRS just extended their lefty models that includes an SE277 and I’ve always been hella curious about a 6 string baritone.

SE owners, can you share your thoughts on build quality/feel?

I have a 277 and also 7 core models. The SE's are great guitars and all the ones I've played/owned have been super solid. Mine is from before they redesigned the headstock logo and imo the newer ones keep getting better. With the 277 not having a core model equivalent I think it's a pretty special guitar. If you pick one up and decide to swap pickups though, one thing with PRS' is that they wind their pickups backwards or something, so if you only swap one pickup the middle position will be out of phase.

I would just plan on doing this tbh

If by winding them backwards you mean winding them to not sound very good then I agree. Speaking mostly about core pickups but it trickles down the ranges IMO where you have already mediocre pickups but also with a light wet blanket over them

The only good SE pickups are the alpha/omega set lol.

Still on the used Prestige RG hunt, despite having enough of those to choke a Sarlacc...

Reasonable price from someone about an hour away from me... and it's got the OG Edge, which I much prefer over the Edge Pro and Zero. Maybe it's a good fiddle to do the whole Sustainiac project...

I hate how much my GAS is influenced by what I'm listening to/playing at the moment. I just started working on "Pantheum" by First Fragment last night and now I really want a 7 with a trem. There's so much wank going on in just the first minute alone

I wish the black Horizon didn't have soapbars, cause that thing looks like a fucking weapon and I'm all about it.

I've also been jamming a fair bit of Mindscar so I also want a decent 6 to keep in the D Standard/Drop C and C# Standard/Drop B range :fever:

Only thing about these is that they might need an aftermarket string retainer.
Is this a JS-32? Decent modding platform.

Are you concerned that the headstock isn't straight string-pull? I have 8 Jacksons with either the standard headstock like this, or the reverse. They don't need a string retainer. Rarely they do go slightly sharp when locking down. But is that enough to put an ugly metal bar on the headstock? I think not. As long as it's tilted back, as all Jackson headstocks are, then it's fine. I just fine-tune it with the fine tuners.

Did you end up buying it?

I just bought one of these in the same color (arrived from Lousiana…the guy was texting me because he had never shipped a guitar before and was asking me what to do 🤨). It arrived is decent condition. The pickguard has loads of micro scratches on it and there is a tiny chip on the side but other than that, it is basically perfect.

As for what I am currently GASing for:

I want a JEM7VWH with either a Lo Pro or Original Edge. They discontinued them after I had graduated and had time to build up savings etc so I can’t buy a new one. Plenty online but the prices are a little high.
