Hello knowledgable people! I am the proud owner of a little humble Stargazer. She's my workhorse guitar. I've swapped all her electronics (pups are Nailbomb bridge and Stockholm neck for those interested.)

    I have the VRS version.

I am thinking about changing the 2 seperate pickguard pieces with one, and replacing the knobs . I am pretty sure it has to be custom made (by me probably).

I'd like to use some kind of figured wood, but I am out of ideas about what wood to use, so it matches nicely with the sunburst of the guitar (and how should I stain it if i have to). Knobs-wise I am contemplating between wooden bell/dome knobs but I must figure the pickguard out first so there is an aesthetically pleasing theme. May be...double ebony?

Gimme your combo suggestions! Any advice is also greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your time! :wavey:

I'm going suggest flamed maple, dyed black and leave the beveled edges natural to mimic the cream binding.

    +1, great suggestion.

Also, I'd replace the bridge with something...less bulky.

If not this then maybe a darker wood like rosewood? I think the flamed maple idea would look pretty ace, though, so +2 to that.

I've thought about that. However the tailpiece is not screwed. It forms a hinge, which then latches on the strap-button. I'd rather not drill anything on the guitar, and I couldn't find a replacement.

I am liking the trans black flamed maple suggestion though. Thank you!

ps: One more reason for doing this is being able to move the knobs to more personally convenient places.

Regarding the tail piece, have you looked at ABM and Duesenberg/Rockinger?
IMSMR one of those have some hinged model(s).

i know, i recently installed something very similar on a Gibson ES replica. If you can live with drilling the front, a Les Paul type bridge (what are these called again?).

if not, what about this :

no need for extra drilling :)
