Please explain this strange LTD model. . . .

Okay. So I have seen this LTD in Guitar Center before. And it always looked odd. But it was finally down far enough for me to grab it. Anyway:



Why does it have 7 string pickups in it? And it's not used and modded. This is a new guitar. I didn't catch the model name but I can't find it on retailer websites or the ESP site. So it must be discontinued. Anyone have any insight on this?

They're P-90's.

it would help to have a picture of the entire guitar.
the pickups could be simple soapbar-sized / akin to a P90.

Looks like a double cutaway brethren of this.

Edit : beat me to it. The only mystery left is that I can only find LTD ECs with P90, no double cutaways.

Yup. They're EMG P90 pickups. Looks like a P81 in the bridge and a P60 in the neck.

The guitar is an LTD Hybrid-II, by the way.

7-string EMG pickups have sharper corners.

Take a look at the EMG website. They're the exact size and shape of the PASSIVE sized active 7's.

Yup. They're EMG P90 pickups. Looks like a P81 in the bridge and a P60 in the neck.

My, EMG has been creative with the names.
