This is exactly what I was thinking too. It's far more likely that the nut is misaligned or spaced improperly. I'd love to see a full body shot.

As a bunch have said, it is most likely a non-issue. Reseat the neck and I'm sure it'll be fine. It only takes a tiny bit of misalignment to have the strings shift noticeably at the body end.

I think a lot of people are skipping over the fact that he has stated that the neck pocket is a tight fit......

Did you have a closer look at the nut?

Take those strings off, loosen those neck joint screws, settle it in, tighten the screws in a X pattern evenly. It doesn't matter if it appears to have a tight fit, sometimes things MOVE. It needs a proper setup.

Its really a non issue as far as playability. It needs a good setup as any new guitar(to the player) does.

You don't need to take it apart. just loosen the neck screws 1/8 turn or so. You don't even have to loosen the strings. Then move the neck and retighten the screws. I have done this on several guitars, both cheap and expensive. Some times you need to pull the neck a little while you tighten the screws, to make it stay in place where you want it.
