I've had this guitar sitting around for quite a few years and haven't used it because the trem broke and I couldn't find a replacement(Ibanez Pro Roc-R trem). And I had since robbed most of the hardware and electronics from it. Anyway, I finally bought a Floyd Rose off of one of my buddies and intalled it on this. Had to move the post holes and do some extra routing.
I really needed an 80s metal guitar for the Dio tribute band that I'm in and this seems to fit the bill.
Here it is, the Ibanez XV500:

I bought the bright green pickup rings because I want to paint it flat black with green accents.
I have no clue what the pickups are. I just found them in one of my many boxes of crap. I think they came off my old Brian Moore. They sound great. I'm getting a very raw rock tone out of this thing now. And is plays great!

Oh yeah, if anyone here has any of these old Ibanez X-series guitars, sell them to me. I want to collect them. :p

I managed to surpress all but a half-snort, half chuckle. Then, about 20 seconds, later, it started to look pretty cool. Then I pictured you (with blue hair) playing it. then I bit my tongue so I wouldn't laugh. then, even THAT started to look pretty cool.

I say leave it that color - somehow, it fits in a way black never would.

 Yeah, we'll see. It's first 'Dio' show is next Friday. It should get a few stares.

That's an XV-500 (if my dodgy memory serves me correctly).I think they had a Basswood body and maple neck combo and a pair of Ibanez Rail-type humbuckers.

We played 'Rainbow in the Dark' in a school talent thing when i was a kid (think it was around '83-ish) and it sounded kick-ass at the time :hbang:.

I actually had an Ibanez Destroyer II (a great guitar!) at the time as well. I think the X-Series came after those though.
I played a similar one to yours many years ago and I remeber that played pretty good too.
There's one like yours on the 'Ibanezregister' website(i think?).

Shame On The NIght. Dude, Awesome tune! I learned Sunset Superman a while ago. I haven't played that in a while.
Dream Evil is probably my favorite though.
Also I remember my band covering Rainbow In The Dark way back.....Vivian Campbell's solo!
I totally winged it of course. I'd love to see one of your shows.

    Pretty sharp guitar. ^;)^

About a month ago I went to a guitar trade show.. and I saw that exact same guitar. Same color and everything (minus the pickup rings). Wish I woulda known you'd wanna collect it. I'd have picked it up for you.

    Now THAT is the shit!
I've seen a few of these on Jemsite before, every time I see them it makes me want one. Would be excellent for me because I play in an acoustic style band, an indie band and a metal band. Can you imagine the stares I'd get using that to play broken chord lines to a piano backing? :hbang:

    Anyway, nice guitar!

You know, I kind of like those really strange "futuristic" Ibanez's and others from the 80s. To me, that's the time period when they got the future right. Smooth lines, everything looks like it's made of some space-age plastic...

Probably one of the reasons I like the Jackson Roswell Rhoads :D

Yeah, it's to bad about that but then again, that just means more of the wierd shapes for us.

I've always wanted one of those Roswell Rhoads.
