Yeah, I'm kinda tired of game / movie / show makers thinking everybody's gonna be watching everything on an 80" plus screen two feet away. If the texts on a phone are important, make them take up a big chunk of the available viewing space. That quarter screen experience blows on a 42" and down across the living room.

I feel like the same thing has been applying for games - we've moved on to designing for 4k and/or big screens, so whenever I sit back in my living room with my "old" 1080p 40" TV, I can't read anything. I'm not THAT old yet.

Same. Well, I'm 41 but still. I'm going to use my 17 year old 42" TV until it's DEAD. I can't even fit a 70" TV in our living room and a 50-60" TV would still be too big.

Yep Abobo! I think there was a reason I looked it up, some goofy stuff me and my brother send back and forth.

I'll be waiting for that single!
That guy is a beast. I jump-kicked him in the face 15 times and he just kept getting up every time. The sixteenth time, he slapped me right out of mid-air and I died. RIP bostjan.

As a kid, I had endless hours of enjoyment playing NES (256x224) on a television set from the late 1960's. Maybe part of the reason I can't get into modern video games is because they want me to use a television set I can't afford, sometimes sit through a 90 minute+ tutorial before I can play the game, and then have to be online or else the game won't even boot up single player. Maybe it's no wonder when a game like Angry Birds comes along and is extremely simple, casual players flock to them (no punk intended) in droves, not that "Assassin's God of Infinite Warfare XVII: Jedi Academy" or whatever, isn't making billions, but it just seems that I hear more complaints about these games than praise.

It may be shocking for some to learn that not all of us set up our homes for the ultimate theatrical viewing experience. I know, that really gets under the skin of the 'phile types, but very few things in life live up to idealized standards.

Oh I know. My personal setup is awful. My current living room has the couch almost 20' from the tv, and for a 45" tv, it's very fucking hard to see at times, even with 20/20 vision. I would move my sofa closer but it's a center fed room and then I wouldn't be able to open the fucking door  I'd also have to tear out the built in shelves above and surrounding my fireplace to install a bigger tv, so I'm kind of fucked unless I want to do some fairly involved renovations.

If you could you anywhere in Ontario. Where would you go? (within a reasonable budget ...well reasonable for ON anyway) I ain't filthy rich lol
Come to south Detroit! I'm south Detroit on the American side, I hear the Canadian side is pretty fun, and legend has it that if you open your windows on a Wednesday night at 6PM, you can actually hear Glenn Fricker screaming in the distance as he stalks the streets.

I'm in Sioux Falls, SD and wouldn't swear part of the pig-squeals coming from down the hill at Smithfield isn't actually Fricker shooting a new vid for his channel.

I've always liked Sarnia, but I'm about as easy-to-please as it gets. Windsor might be better now, but when I was a 19 year old American hanging out there to drink, it was full of too many 19 year old Americans getting drunk and being a nuisance. Niagara Falls is supposed to be a nice place to live, nearish to Toronto and also near the US, but it's also very touristy. Burlington is cool, but a little busy. Maybe Kingston, a little more off the beaten path, still close to the US border, but not any major cities, very pretty area... Depends what you value more...

Awesome thanks for the suggestions man! I must research these.

At the moment I'm just looking at plan B if Plan A doesn't work out. So mostly just some place that isn't bananas expensive yet not too far away from civilization or an airport either

I thought I saw something similar - there was a 70-something-inch TV I had my eye on for a bit, then it suddenly disappeared from the store, and was never replaced.
Yup, and the thing is I'd need exactly 70" and there just aren't any. Now I'm thinking about mounting it higher though, then I could probably fit an 85" I don't think my wife will approve though.

According to the link, I sit just under 8' away, so I should be using an almost 60" screen. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I plan on eventually upgrading to a ~65" 4k if I can get away with it. I use a 32" 4k for my work / PC / PS5 (at a desk, so it's close-up) and I'm pretty spoiled by it.

I frequently me in Ottawa, if that means anything. Ottawa can be kinda boring though, especially post-'rona. Everything closes early and transit is bad, especially in the winter, so if you want to do fun things this maybe isn't the right place. It's also not cheap, so I guess that's reason number two that it's the wrong choice. Oh well.

I do like Ottawa. It was my place to go to pre-covid to escape MTL and chill for a bit. Rent is surprisingly high there right now. Way higher than I expected. It's gone way up in the post covid world.

I just need to be able to view Cops in standard definition.

Under Arrest/To Serve and Protect is also good if you need a Cops fix in SD

So Ontario dudes. What sites do you use to look up places to rent a place?

craigslist/kijiji/padmapper/zillow are not proving to be super awesome. realtor.ca has some stuff that was ok, but it's hard to tell if their listings are valid or if they're old and out of date.

So far what I've seen just reminds me of Vancouver all over before I left there. (but even more expensive than when I was in Vancouver 🤯)

Finally got to stand up today! A full 4 minutes with a some kind of a walker-thingy. I'm not allowed to put any kind of weight on the amputated foot yet, though. The foot feels just fine. Everybody's been like how bad is the pain all the time and everyone has been incredibly surprised when I say it's almost nonexistent at this point. All I take is some pills for the ghost feelings on my missing toes and 1000mg of parasetamol three times a day.

I bet I could do without the parasetamol at this point.

The corona infection has been very mild too. I've got a very mild case of the sniffles currently. Two days of quarantine left if the virus has left my body by then.
