I've been working on mixing electronic elements with guitars and finally starting to churn out productions I'm happy with. I wrote and recorded everything in Reason 11 Suite. My goal with this song was to get dark, spooky and heavy. The song title speaks for itself. I was aiming to capture various elements of a nightmare and then abruptly waking up.

Enjoy the ride...

Sounds good dude! Definitely nailed the Mick Gordon style :yesway:
Thanks! I learned a lot from completing just this one song. I made a lot of different mixing choices based on the reference tracks I was using to keep my mix where I wanted it to be. The power of reference tracks is for sure real.

Had the mods move this. I didn't realize I posted to the totally wrong section. Bad links AND the wrong section? What was I doing?

Cool composition, especially the clean break. Sounds like there's some clipping going on though, how hard is your limiter working?

Thanks for checking out the song. The clean section almost didn't make it into the song since I originally wanted to keep the whole song heavy. It flowed better than the other ideas I had, especially once I had the ending in place.

I don't recall any clipping or the limiter doing much other than catching peaks. Listening again it may be the synth bass you're hearing. It has a lot of low end and lower mid content that I probably should have cleaned up. It does have this overly wooly and slightly distorted sound that I didn't pay much attention to.

I'm sorry, but every time I see this thread, I m isread "Mick" as "Mike," and, well, that's a VERY different genre.
