That 1st round pick we got from [FLA] was looking like a ~10th-16th overall for much of the season and I've been watching it slowly depreciate to what is now 31st

Right? Florida either had no business being there or the East *really* sucks.

Vegas was WAY over the cap in the playoffs, they really need to fix that loophole. It's becoming more and more obvious the best way to win the Cup is to LTIR as much salary as possible, load up, then go way over the Cap in the postseason.

Reminded me of TB vs Habs a few years ago... cinderella story that ran out of gas in the SCF to a team that was clearly a class apart.

Successfully avoided the entire playoffs on TV, just followed the scores and highlights. That was the ugliest final in a long time. Appears as the injury bug and lack of depth in FLA to recover from said bug really took its toll. Vegas just had so much more depth to work with in the end. Got to love Phil still taking shots at Toronto though.

:agreed: Although it's getting the NHL what they want, champs from non-hockey markets so it grows the game, so I dunno if they view it as needing to be fixed?

The only good thing about this was Phil getting a third Cup. Good thing he played in the early games as I can't see Vegas management going to bat for anybody to get them on the Cup.

Now taking bets on who finds out from Twitter they were traded this offseason...

Also, which team overpays for Adin Hill in free agency?

EDIT: wow looks like Florida was really beat to hell going into the Final... explains some of what happened. Plus Bob returning to his usual playoff form in the last round.

LA looking extra scary down the middle now... Kopitar/Dubois/Danault.

Nice cap dump by Boston, looks like they are gearing up to turn over the roster.

Draft tomorrow night, looking very forward to seeing how our 5th overall pans out or the fireworks they are used for. I'm on the fence with Michkov, would prefer a safer bet with this year's crop.

Speaking of overpaying, even with a 40 goal season under his belt, Timo Meier 8y x $8.8 aav with NJD seems overzealous.

Looks like PIT just dipped into the VGK cabal and acquired another aging player in 32 year old Reilly Smith, in exchange for a 3rd round pick (2024).

1st round of the draft @ 7pm EST tonight :partyhat:

COL positioning themselves pretty well - Newhook was a lot to give up, but they solidified the middle lines and can let JTC test free agency.

Johansen was a surprising deal, my impression was a great move by COL.

I have a good impression of Newhook, but honestly can't recall any particular moments/plays, so my reaction so far has been muted. I have come to learn some of his player profile and background... should I be more hyped than I am?
