These are super cool... I'd really love to see a 7-string fanned fret Tele with the traditional features... with a super-snappy, twangy bottom string for extended-range country licks

Also, say what you will about our old friend the Douchebag Maestro Alex Gregory, but his custom Strats are gorgeous.

I'm a sucker for a sparkly guitar too...

^ those are definitely cool, though the pickup placement is a bit un-Strat-like.

I have a Fender neck that I'm hoping to put to good use in the near future, and it's much more traditional (with the exception of the 7th string, of course).

Man I cant believe how hard it is to find one of those Squier VII today!
I remember when they came out, me and one of my friends bought one right away.
Here in Sweden, at the time, they were super common! A company called musikbörsen sold them for 2000 kr or something. Honsetly, we only bought them because we could not afford an ibanez rg7620 or rg7420. But now I have gas for one again... like 10 years later... lol.

I wonder if they were sold worldwide?
I am guessing they were not available here in Japan were I live now, because I have never seen one and I go to a lot of second and guitar shops.
    How about america?
As I already said, these were the poor mans 7string in Sweden about 10 years ago. And about 7 or so years ago you could find these used for next to nothing!

It was masterbuilt in the Fender custom shop, intended for the NAMM show, but the guitar never was completed. The neck made its way to me eventually.

    YES.

Just a mockup for now; still have some work to get it together. But the body/neck/pickguard fit perfectly, which is a huge relief considering that there doesnt seem to be standard 7-string dimensions. (And, though I love SRV as much as the next guy, the pickguard ultimately should be an off-white rather than black).

    That is absolutely killer!

    - edit - An fwiw, I think the black pickguard with those aged white parts looks fantastic as it is. If you insist on going white, maybe pearloid over plain white?

    Thanks man!

I'm coming around to the black. But only one guy can really rock that look: SRV. I have to have another pickguard cut anyway because that black guard belongs to an Agile Sentinel. So I'll have one cut in parchment and see how it looks. I may end up sticking with the black because it does look at bit meaner than white would be.

    Thanks man!

It's funny that every guitar has changed since that pic. The Agile is getting all black hardware. The Aria has a new pickguard that straightens out the single coils. The sunburst Squier is in pieces. The black Squier has a black guard with nickel-covered Dimarzio hums.

    Thanks man!

Almost done blacking-out the Agile Sentinel. Deciding whether it's worth it to swap tuners.

Come on man, I'm trying to save a few bucks!

It's part number is BS075. I got it from AllParts. Just be careful, because there a part number BS070 that has wider spacing and won't be a direct swap.

I don't want it be that necro guy (that's not weird at all...), but do you still have all of these? I have been wanting a 7 string for a while after I sold my 7621 off... The trouble is I also really want a strat. I think the 7 string is heavier on the scale at the moment, but I like thicker necks, and the thin neck is one of the reasons I sold the 7621. What kinds of neck profiles do these have and do any of these (excepting the one with the custom shop neck) come close to the quality of a 7621?
