I've actually had this guitar for over two weeks, but between letting the setup settle and rushing to get everything ready to start band camp (I teach), i just neglected to set aside time to get the word out. Shame on me :scream:

First, mid like to start by saying that I've owned a lot of customs from a lot of builders, and Ola is top tier to work with. He has his hand in a new business, an old one, and the biggest wait list full of the least patient clients on the planet and he still did a fine job communicating with me courteously and at his earliest convenience. A great attitude goes a long way with me, and I always got the impression that Ola really wanted to give me the best product he could. Great guy all around, and I really appreciate his business model and wish him all the success in the world.

On to the guitar. When I ordered the strandy, I already had in mind that I would go with Tosin's scale lengths, but the rest was up in the air. I wanted something with a unique but subdued look to it, and I think my previous Strictly 7 build nailed that in the looks dept, so I went with the same woods: myrtlewood top, swamp ash body, Macassar ebony board and black and gold hardware (that's getting to be a signature spec of mine :metal:). I prefer bolt on designs mostly because I've yet to play a neck through, save for my old KxK with that super secret mahogany, that used a neck plank that didn't push the highs too harsh or the lows too muddy, so bolt on it was. I chose war pigs because I knew the guitar would be hella light and could probably use some balls-ing up (that, and dimarzio doesn't offer slanted design yet, I'm a dimarzio guy through and through), plus having played WPs before I knew what I was getting into. After sourcing woods and starting the waiting game, Ola notified me that my top had a slight in perfection that would show up in staining, so we decided to go with a brown/amber stain to compensate. I didn't mind, as in my head the color pallet would be very lion-like lol. At this point, I asked if it was too late to add an Ionizer in the middle, and he was willing to accommodate in appreciation of my working with him on the stain. Sometimes things just work out.

I got the beast a few weeks ago, and after putting her through the paces I can tell you Ola builds God-tier instruments. It is very different by the nature of its design, in that it is ludicrously light and still very organic. I love my ibanez 2228, but with this, it's so much more "alive", you really hear and feel the influence of the wood in your hands and through your amp. The stainless fretwork is of course immaculate, action is super low on the treble side with no fretting out on bends, and low with little to no buzz on the bass side even when playing finger style. Another cool feature, is the Abasi-style pickup selection. I have it arranged exactly how Tosin has his signature, except that instead of a coil tap switch, I have a push-pull. There is a major difference in having single coil tones and having boosted and supported single coil tones.

I've yet to find an imperfection, except that maybe the stain is a little bit aromatic . Anybody know of a fix for that? Overall, I'm extremely happy, it seems like my last custom build is a lifer. The fact that my Dad's college football number is on the guitar and his jersey in my guitar room is pretty sweet too.

Pics of meh quality, I know you scrolled down immediately anyway :shred:

Ha, mine is also very "aromatic" - I think it will fade in time, but I don't mind much at all. Congrats - looks cool and very curious about the warpigs!

Congrats on getting a fanned HSH 8 string! That's a super rare combination that makes me very envious. Your signature aesthetic is lovely as well :)

That's gorgeous, man. Absolutely love the stained swamp ash. Looks ridiculous with that top/control cavity cover.

That is one seriously amazing looking 8. Front to back it is just wicked. Such simplistic perfection, yet knowing how much detail and effort goes into these definitely makes you stand back in awe. How are the pickups balancing out? I'm curious how the Warpigs are doing with the Ionizer.

Oh and I read the intro first, young sir. It was worth the detail.
