Picked up this Modern from Humbucker Music a few weeks ago and its fantastic. Plays incredibly well and has been working out really well for recording and writing too. Its been forever since I've had an HSH guitar so I'm getting used to an extra pickup in my picking space but the extra sounds are nice.

Drip finish is really cool in person. Kind of a modern less extreme take on a swirl.

    Alder body
    Maple neck
    Pau Ferro board
    Jumbo stainless frets
    Gotoh 510 trem

Oh wow! I love that finish, I haven't seen that before I don't think. Of course as you said it's very reminiscent of a swirl, but it definitely has its own look to it. HNGD!!

Killer finish! I have never seen anything like it before; very unique.
Dang i'm really liking Pau Ferro boardss right now. How do you find them in comparison to the typical maple/rosewood/ebony?

I have this Modern with "traditional" strat woods and another Modern that is Korina body/neck, maple top, and ebony board. The traditional woods Modern is fat and clear sounding with very thick tone. The ebony/maple/korina Modern is much more aggressive in the midrange. So I'd say that the Pau Ferro board with the other woods helps with a generally fat and versatile tone. No wonder this is a time-tested formula.

I have another guitar with a Mahogany Body and Pau Ferro neck that is also very thick and clear. The solid Pau neck makes it more aggressive though.

If you like rosewood in general then Pau ferro is another good option. Every builder I have spoken to prefers the tone of Pau Ferro although it tends to be lighter and redder than Rosewood which isn't ideal for some folks that like Dark boards.

LOL, this is the fourth Suhr NGD I've seen since I got mine.... these guitars really are top notch. Why so popular now and not before? The pro series upgrades put me over the edge.

    HNGD!!!!

Wow! That is one of the nicest pau ferro boards I have seen.

The more Suhr guitars the better! (I say as I wear my Suhr t-shirt)

I've owned a half dozen Suhrs over the years. It's not that they're suddenly more popular, just not as popular on this forum. If you browsed other forums like TGP or RT, you'd see Suhr NGD's pop up all the time. I've had my latest Modern for 2 months now, I just got around to taking pics last weekend. ;) Probably just coincidence that they were posted around the same time.
