    Oh, hewwo

    IMG_0996.jpg
I like the two prominent sap lines(?) running down the top, gives it a cool organic feel

    IMG_0997.jpg
    That neck pocket tho

    IMG_0998.jpg
I'm pretty sure I could take the neck bolts out and it would still stay in place.

    IMG_0999.jpg
I really like the copper circle inlays

    IMG_1001.jpg
I REALLY like the neck laminations

    OKAY REVIEW TIME

This was a bit of an impulse purchase, I've always been interested in the KM sigs and when I found out LA Music had a couple of the US Custom Shop models in stock up here in Canada it felt like too good an opportunity to pass up. I'd heard good things about the US Schecter stuff so I figured I'd give it a shot. Worst case scenario, LA music has a good return policy.

I WILL NOT BE RETURNING THIS GUITAR. Holy SHIT it's good. Like, out of the box as good if not better than my various Mayones, which I will stan until the end of time. Arrived perfectly set up, nice low action, no fret buzz, didn't even need a truss rod tweak.

Neck profile is very, very close to the Mayones Duvell shape. Maybe a little flatter. It's thin but not what I would call super thin. Upper fret access is great and the neck heel is unobtrusive. Fretwork is perfect. I spent a couple hours going up and down the whole neck last night and encountered nary a buzz or dead note.

The body radius is subtle, but comfy. It's a tiny bit neck heavy if you put it unsupported on your right leg, but realistically your right forearm provides enough support that it's not noticeable. In classical or with a strap it's fine. This is my first guitar with the Hipshot ibby replacement bridge and it's so unobtrusive that, combined with the top radius, it barely feels like there's a bridge THERE. Pretty wild.

The pickups are...different, but in a cool way? I'd read that they're specced to be lower output than your typical actives, and that's definitely the case. Even on the "modern" setting, they're more of what I'd call a medium-hot pickup. Under high gain they're SUPER tight and dry-sounding to my ears. Cleans and mid gain tones are very nice, and the single-coil voicing is better than your average coil-split humbucker, if not quite as good as an actual single coil. All in all I'd say they're just a different flavor than the pickups in my other guitars, and that's not a bad thing.

Honestly my only complaint about the guitar is that it has a standard 9-volt battery instead of the fancy fishman USB pack. Seems like for a guitar this nice (and expensive) it would've made sense to do that. Could be it's too bulky for the control cavity, since the bottom of the guitar is radiused too, but I dunno.

TLDR good guitar, buy USA Schecters they're good

Beautiful guitar. Congrats man! The "sap lines" definitely give it character. I've had my eye on those KM models for a while, the specs look fantastic. Your review is helpful. Enjoy!

Very nice. The top is really good and the lines are neat. That neck is perfect, the inlays! I love the circle outline, and in copper no less. You’ve done well.

Love the top. The figured undyed ebony also looks really cool. I'd assume the Korean KM7's are dyed, mine is completely black.

Damn! There are very few bucket list guitars for me, but this is one of them. I have been stalking used USA Merrows for a long time and no one seems to sell them. I guess you know why!

There's a white one at Sweetwater I'd been eyeballing for a couple months before this one came up on my radar

Just shove a rechargeable 9v in there. Fluences are good down to 8v.

    Nice looking guitar.

I've got a pair of km fluences coming. I'm excited. I love it dry.

Wow! What a beauty! I love it - especially the fret markers - so elegant.

They arent well regarded in the GTA lol. And with TGS a block away, it's not a recommended spot.

Schecter USA guitars are the best bang for your dollar and I say it all the time. I have quite a few, and a couple have been purchased used. The fretwork alone is worth it. It's not to say other guitars are not worth it, but I have yet to be disappointed by one and I would say the same for Tom Anderson.

I have that same bridge in my EQ FT7 and have noticed the same thing. Very low and out of the way, one of my favorites now.
