I got one of my dream guitars! The Schecter Damien Platinum 9 30 inch scale 9-string!

I had to sell my PRS SE 277 Semi-Hollow in order to fund this guitar but I didn't use it much anyways and I've wanted this Schecter for a long time now. The 30 inch scale is what makes this guitar so special (and good) to me. Most of the other big name brand 9-strings have a 28 inch scale. My Ibanez RGIR9FME for example. Now, that's a cool guitar but the 30 inches on the Schecter do make a difference.

I find it interesting that Schecter chose to make this option available in the "more affordable" Damien Platinum line but to be honest, the build quality is just excellent! It plays like a dream, sounds great with quality woods etc. and the EMG909s are honestly quite good.

Here's a little image gallery of this guitar (also next to the Ibanez for reference):

And here is my review video in which I go over all the specs and features as well as showcase some tones through my ENGL Fireball 100, Victory Super Kraken and Helix Native:

Actually sounded super good Jon, I'm not usually a fan of anything really below E1, but that sounded awesome. I love the distance between the pups, haha. It's like your whole hand difference. Probably makes for a super warm neck sound, but the SNARL on that low C# was actually pretty nice.

Thanks! Yeah, I think it sounds really good! I didn't even need to use a boost pedal to ake it more tight... Love the 30 inch scale!

Awesome tones man. Have been seriously considering that exact guitar and , also, between the Fireball and Savage heads. . What I’d really wanted to find was an eight string with a 30” scale. But I’m thinking I may need to just get the nine string and string it up with lighter strings and tune it to double drop D. May I ask what tuning you are using for the bass tones in that video? I was thinking maybe just a 5 string in standard tuning. But, the bass does seem to still lay “under” the guitar when you’re hitting the low C# and F# strings.

Thanks! My bass is tuned a bit weird for this but it works: B C# F# C# F#
