I've wanted one of these guitars since they came out, however life and other guitars got in the way, and it never happened until I got this beast in the mail yesterday. It's everything I could want from an Ibanez 7, from the stupid-easy playability, the Wizard neck molding itself perfectly to my fretting hand, its sleek, understated good looks, and as a nice bonus, for those of you who might consider leaving the stock pickups in, the Quantum 7's in here actually sound pretty damn good!! Nice tight low end, good midrange focus (without going full-Djunk), and a high end that adds clarity and definition without becoming screechy or hissy. Even if you do intend on changing pickups, the rest of this guitar is so damn great on its own that it's worth it, IMO. On another note, it may just be me, but man, do I ever love how this Walnut Flat finish looks/feels in person. My pictures do it absolutely no justice!

Is this a 7421? Not that it matters!
I always look these up on reverb and GC, etc. They look so damn good and play really well.
Congrats, and I hope you hang on to it for a long time and play the hell out of it!

Why thank you! Besides the fact that I knew I was in for a treat with a 7421, that finish is what draw me to it, and it does not disappoint in person, both in feel, and aesthetics. :D
This is indeed a 7421! My friend owns one of the original MIJ's and this one has the same heft to it and solid feeling that the MIJ has...not sure on the attention to detail, as I didn't get to play my buddy's guitar for too long, but this thing is pretty damn awesome in that department also. Thank you, this guitar might well go to my grave with me!

Now that’s a guitar where a brown fretboard looks awesome on! Those are always very comfortable guitars. Congrats!

    Congrats!
Can't go wrong with an Ibanez 7-string.

Sweet, and yours has the advantage of the wider fretboard vs the MIJ. Congrats!

I was not aware this was a thing! Works for me, though, I have huge hands, so the bigger the neck, the better. :D

RG twinsies!! Very cool, dude, I have been playing this thing off and on (more on than off) since it got here, and it has a massive amount of play time in its future. :metal:

I think the nut width is the same while the heel width went from 65 to 68mm. Helps with not pulling the high e off the neck, for those of us so inclined.

Had one of the first models out in walnut flat (RG8WNF), seriously nice finish but I think mine came out a bit darker than yours?

Mine is a little darker in-person than in the pics, I think my flash really lit it up!
