What's up! A couple months ago I got a crazy sick Ibanez RG752WMFX which put all of my other guitars to shame. Yesterday I found another RG752 for a great deal, so I swooped in immediately!

It's a 2016 Ibanez Prestige RG752 in whatever deep purple finish this is called. It's been routed (not cleanly) for EMGs, which sound surprisingly solid in this guitar. A lot brighter than the other RG752 (which has a mahogany body and Seymour Duncan Nazgul/Sentient).

I definitely want to put a pickguard or something on this guy to cover up the routing. Anyone have suggestions for a color that would work well with the guitar?

Yeah I was thinking when I upgrade down the road I'll definitely go with Fishmans!

Good man! I will say, for metal, the best sets I found would be the SRC and Abasi set, but there is also a Reyes and Merrow set as well...all metal oriented.....if you wanted any more info about Fluence, please lmk/ask!

    again congrats!

    Rout looks pretty clean

If there's bare wood visible somewhere from some angle and annoying you, just touch up with a marker

The routing isn't awful, but it's definitely not perfect. Kinda wonky.

Looks great man. Congrats!. Is the bridge comfortable? I would personally never put a pick guard on on of these, the routes are fine even if not perfect. Stay with the EMG's too if you like the sound. Be happy, live long and prosper etc.

The bridge is super comfortable. Just as good as the hipshot on the other one, in my opinion.

    Nah man

Wonky is when a guitar looks like EVH got drunk and/or smoked something and "tinkered" with it

If OP likes them he should keep them, I'd take EMGs with 18v mod over fluence moderns any day, thicker, beefier, less nasal

I'm not a big fan of EMGs. They're good for heavy tones but I can't get anything else out of them that I'm a big fan of.

Interesting. I always hear this from people but I can get anything I want out of them from a nice fat clean tone to blues breakup to chunky to heavy. You might be looking for passive tone and not active tone. Emg has passives too. I know David Gilmore gets some great tone from them for non heavy tones. Look at thier artists page. There's tons of country people and a wide range of metal people too. I think they can do pretty much anything. I'm guessing you're probably into passive tones or feel more.

Nothing wrong with EMGs, I can get good tones with them. I have a passive EMG in one of my guitars that I dig. I'm just not usually a fan of what I get and prefer passive options more. I had the coil-split EMGs once but I wasn't impressed.

I have tried the Fishman Fluence pickups a couple different times, even have them installed in one of my guitars, and I can say without any hesitation that I prefer EMG more. The sound just does it for me. So, that Ibanez ticks that box :mf666:

I actually have an RG752 being shipped too. I found one of the Axe Palace specials from a few years back (I think 2016) and jumped on it. I hope it is on par with my E-II 7s.

I'm liking the EMGs more than I expected, but I do miss having split coil tones.

You're gonna love your 752. Just such a comfy neck, I love both of mine
